Product Description

Here are the facts:

The United States has released 425 terrorists from Guantanamo, at least 50 of whom have returned to the battlefield to fight our troops.

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton both say they're fiscally responsible. But each has called for $1 trillion in tax increases over the next ten years—and dressed them up as tax cuts!

Mainstream Media has been given marching orders from the Society of Professional Journalists: never refer to "Islamic terrorists" or "Muslim terrorists." And they are obeying! Whenever our brave agents disrupt a terror plot, The media dismisses the culprits as a gang of idiots—lulling us into a false sense of security.

If the liberals win the 2008 election, they will cripple talk radio—forcing stations to give equal time to left-wing programs, and insisting that liberals play a key role in station management.

Up to a quarter of all state pension funds in the United States are invested in companies that are helping Iran, Syria, North Korea, or the Sudan—for a total of nearly $200 billion.

The Do-Nothing Congress is still doing nothing—and the worst offenders are the presidential candidates Clinton, Obama, and McCain, who never show up for their day jobs as senators . . . except to pick up their $165,000 paycheck!

Is it any wonder that Americans feel fleeced at every turn?

As more and more critical problems develop that need national attention, the White House and Congress appear to be AWOL.

Who's calling the shots instead?

Big business, big government, big labor, and big lobbyists. And their self-serving agendas are doing nothing to help the ever-increasing number of American people who are losing their homes, paying credit card interest rates higher than 25 percent, and finding their jobs increasingly outsourced to foreign countries.

In this hard-hitting call to arms, Dick Morris and Eileen McGann reveal the hundreds of ways American tax-payers are routinely fleeced—by our own government; by foreign countries like Dubai that are gobbling up American interests and spending millions to influence government decisions and American public opinion; by Washington lobbying firms that are pushing the agendas of corrupt foreign dictators on Capitol Hill; and by hedge-fund billionaires collecting huge tax breaks courtesy of the IRS.

With their characteristic blend of sharp analysis and insider insight, Morris and McGann call offenders of all kinds on the carpet—and offer practical agendas we all can follow to help turn the tide.

5 out of 5 stars May not like Morris but liked the book, excellent info   August 28, 2008
TWM (Lafayette, LA)
The information within this book should be a required reading of all in politics on how not to govern. Of course, it is an example of how to spend and get your way in our government. Even worse in respects to the Obama info is the lacking of experience, the media in the tank views that have smoked screened the voters about the real Obama.

5 out of 5 stars A Balanced Look at Ripoffs By Politicians, Corporations, Lobbyists, and Others   August 27, 2008
S. Peek (Rocky Mountains, USA)
This is a well done expose of those who 'fleece' the citizenry in a number of ways.

In a book that has perhaps the longest subtitle ever, Dick Morris exposes those 'fleecers' including politicians on both sides of the political aisle, the media, big corporations, teachers' unions, and many more. As he is an equal opportunity basher, many readers will likely be offended in some way (he has examples of John McCain as well as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama).

Some of the better parts of the book include the following:

1. Barack Obama - Morris outlines many problematic areas with the self proclaimed 'the one'. One of the most important parts is showing all of Obama's tax plans. Morris' conclusion: 'Together, these proposals would be crippling to our economy.' He does a great job of showing exactly how that would be.

2. The Do-Nothing Congress - Morris shows just how 'grueling' the work schedule is for our elected representatives. He documents how 'in the entire year 2007, the House of Representatives worked only three five-day workweeks.' That is just the tip of the iceberg for this group of slackers. He does a great job of showing a great many of their dubious 'accomplishments', which are laughable to say the least. He also makes a great point about how John McCain, Barack Obama, and others who have run for president have essentially taken anywhere from a few months to a couple of years off of this cushy job to run for president, skipped numerous votes, but still collect their paychecks. As he says, 'They're not doing their job. But they're all still getting paid -$165,000 a year! - for doing nothing.'

3. The plastic fleece - He shows numerous scams that the credit card companies do to rip off their customers. He goes through eleven ways that these corporations use to essentially steal. Although this would have been considered usury at one time, they are free to gouge people in some very disgusting ways.

There are several others. I will forego further examples. Suffice it to say that there are many appalling ways that companies, government entities and others are gouging people. Morris has some solutions that, if implemented by large numbers of readers, could make a big difference.

I would strongly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars Fleeced by Dick Morris   August 26, 2008

This is a great book full of well documented examples. We must be aware of what is going on here in the USA. This book will open your eyes.

4 out of 5 stars Morris' Fleecing Is Mostly Political   August 26, 2008
Martin Asiner (Jersey City, NJ)
Dick Morris has made a career of exposing the foibles of those who in one form or another--usually political--have been fleecing America. In his most recent book of the same name, he takes dead aim at a wide variety of scalpers who seek to separate America from its security, its work ethic, its national character, and other sectors that for want of a better term used to symbolize America. And therein lies the book's strength and weakness. As he goes about giving an thoroughly deserved lambasting to the fleecers, he places too many under one tent. As I was reading FLEECED, I noticed that of the eighteen chapters, the first half dealt with the political issues that he often raises as a guest speaker on The O'Reilly Factor: Obama's questionable grasp of security, taxation, and education; media bias that consistently downplays terrorism while demanding a "Fairness Doctrine" for talk radio; and the left's insistance either to close Guantanamo Prison or release outright its many incarcerated terrorists. In the second half, Morris plays consumer advocate who rails against the outright frauds perpetrated by the sub prime mortgage lenders, the usorious credit card conglomerates, and the NEA teacher pension rip off artists. To his credit, Morris zings the right as much as the left. However, he dilutes his thrust by trying to solve too many of America's various woes at the same time. John Stosser, for example, covers much of the same ground in his various consumer fraud bestsellers. Yet, there is much to like here. Nowhere else can one find what America would be like under President Obama with respect to Obama's vision of a tax-burdened America. Further, he concludes each chapter with an Action Agenda in which he urges readers to take specific action against specific abuses, often naming names that readers can contact for redress. His writing style is breezy and non-technical, just as he appears on television. In short, if one wishes to find a muckraker that rakes in more than one kind of muck, than FLEECED is a good place to begin.

2 out of 5 stars The Problem with Morris' opinions....   August 24, 2008
Peter B. Frengel (Harrisburg, PA United States)

Obama, in the true liberal fashion, has fluid thinking. He vows to surround himself with intelligent people and to hear a variety of opinions before moving forward. He has gone so far as to compare his prospective cabinet with the cabinet Lincoln held, in order to understand the forces dividing his nation.

Is our nation still divided more than a century after the civil war? Yes. And there are those who would profit from keeping it that way -- the Bush/Clinton regime, namely. Whether it's Walmart or Haliburton....

So Obama's proposals might not yet be perfect. OK, I grant you that, Mr. Morris. But is he willing to listen, to evolve, and to carry this country in a direction not directly solely by greed? Perhaps his readers should consider that option as well.
