Action packed Navy thriller! January 11, 2010 BooksInReview 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Superb new action series by an exciting author. I purchased this title after purchasing another title by this author and was wary. Could an action or military book be written convincingly by an author who wrote a paranormal romance? I'm to say that it could and I'm pleased by the purchase.
Flames of Betrayal starts out quickly and rarely lets up as the reader is taken along on a thrilling ride that involves spies, lies, and never really knowing who is working behind the scenes. Great page turner.
These characters are well-written, well rounded with quirks that will make them feel really solid and with the included team roster for the main team, it's easy to follow along.
I enjoyed the plot, the action scenes and the bits of romance that were included. The author didn't lose track of the plot she had and all loose ends were tied up by the end. It was also well written in the sense that someone with little to no military knowledge can still enjoy the story without feeling lost. She took great time in explaining the things that also wouldn't be normal for a military unit. It's really a superb action story in what appears to be a hot new series!
Didn't Know I Liked Action Novels January 23, 2010 Shalonda "Treasure" Williams (GA, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I honestly enjoyed the story. Sierra Rose took this story and made it work.
I didn't even know that I would like an action novel but this book sure proved that I did.
Sierra took us on a ride with Cassidy and Ethan that is sure to be remembered long after it is read. Cassidy and her fiery personality made you like her a lot. You laughed at the idea of such a little woman giving such big orders. You honor her for her courage. You feel compassion for her during the abuse and pain. You blush when she realizes true love.
Ethan is just the right one to show her. He is gentle but real.
While reading this book I could literally see it playing on the big screen.
There was a little editing that needed to be done, but not enough to take away from the story line. The story rocked!
Fast Paced and Action Packed February 6, 2010 Alison Pensy (MO, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Sierra created a story that keeps you on your toes. I instantly connected with her main character, Cassidy and was really rooting for her throughout the whole book. She went through a pretty harrowing ordeal and I think Sierra did a good job when writing about the situation. I liked the way that she was portrayed as this really strong force to be reckoned with, when just under the surface she was a frightened and vulnerable woman.
I found that you really had to concentrate when reading this book because there was so much going on it would be easy to lose track. There are a plethora of characters, actually so many that I found myself concentrating on only a few of them as I couldn't keep track of the others and they just became incidentals in my mind.
I don't know if Sierra has personal experience with this sector of the military but to me, someone who knows nothing about it, she created a very believable world. The one thing I appreciated was the fact that she didn't use a lot of foul language, which so often goes hand in hand with this type of story and the way it was written it certainly didn't feel like it was missing anything without a lot of swearing.
Overall this is a fast paced, action packed story that has twists and turns all over the place. An enjoyable read.
Good book February 6, 2010 Christy Leigh Stewart (California) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Rose approaches every aspect of this book with full force; forming realistic characters that face heavy issues that other authors either avoid or gloss over, but also giving the military-esque setting so much depth while still not alienating readers who have no knowledge of such things past the GI Joe cartoon (me).
As engrossing as the plot was, this book is very character driven, something that I always love, and Rose's bravery in details and the characters's depth and likeability makes this one of the books you'll compare others to when they fall short of being real.
I'm a little jaded when it comes to romance *cough* but this book...Well, in Whoville they say that the Christy's small heart grew three sizes that day.
Didn't expect to like it but I did!!! April 28, 2010 Keleigh Crigler Hadley (author of the Preacher's Kids series) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have to disagree with the previous posters who gave S.E.A.L. Team Omega 1 star reviews. I loved every minute of this action-packed, roller coaster ride, nail-biting, gasp-worthy military thriller.
The author has revised and edited the novel as of this date, so the version that I had the pleasure of reading was not bogged down with typographical errors. But I must say, even New York times bestsellers have editing issues. As long as the plot, characters, pacing, and ending are great, all of that is usually overlooked and forgiven. In Flames of Betrayal the original story line and creative writing style kept me on the edge of my seat while reading it.
Sierra Rose has hit it out the ballpark with this one!
