Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
First published in 1969, this classic manual of automotive repair equips VW owners with the knowledge to handle every situation they will come across with any air-cooled Volkswagen built through 1978, including Bugs, Karmann Ghias, vans, and campers. With easy-to-understand, fun-to-read information -- for novice and veteran mechanics alike -- anecdotal descriptions, and clear language, this book takes the mystery out of diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures, and offers some chuckles along the way. This edition features new information on troubleshooting, new photos, and an updated resource list.

5 out of 5 stars A MUST for all air cooled Volkswagen owners   October 30, 2008
R. H. NINOU (Madrid, Spain)
If you have (or plan to buy) an air cooled VW this is your book. It makes everything very easy. Illustrations are great and it's all very clear and simple.

An absolute must.

5 out of 5 stars This is a fine book....   October 10, 2008

This is a really good book if you are into doing your own VW repairs (most owners of old VW's pretty much need to be somewhat mechanically inclined and this book will definately help). The book is written in an easy to read fun format, has had numerous updates over the years and covers just about any issue you'll be dealing with. I think this is a must have for any VW owner. A+

5 out of 5 stars best beetle book by far!   October 9, 2008
cmp1313 (nc, pa)
I highly, highly, highly recommend this book. Everything is written in easy to understand language and is easy to follow. It's not just simply 'remove xyz', it's more like 'remove xyz like this...' The mechanicals are the best--way better than any Chilton or Haynes book you can buy. I actually gave a copy of this book to a guy who bought one of my bugs 3 years ago. It really is that good. The writing is also unlike most books. It is fun and interesting. You can actually read this book as-is without doing a thing to your car. Every bug owner should have this book.

4 out of 5 stars Great book for dummies like me!   August 9, 2008

What can I tell about a book in 19th edition? Excellent organization, very useful information, great writing style. You don't have to understand about mechanics to read - if you already have a VW Bug or Bus, you can put all you readings in practice as soon as you finish page 10. I'm very satisfied.
