A fascinating first account of American History May 17, 2007 Jim V. (California) I met Andy Kerr through my father. Dad worked for General Electric at the time and Mr. Kerr was winding down his stint as general counsel for the company. Although a very important and powerful man, he was very personable and down to earth. He seemed to me to be one of those guys who worked very hard and drove his own success, but was always surprised and happy about how lucky he was. Very humble. This book is a fascinating read, especially for those of us who were growing up through Viet Nam and the seventies. Most interesting is his take on the Kennedy assasination. After his defection to the USSR, and return to the US, Lee Harvey Oswald wrote a letter to the Secrtary of the Navy (John Connally, who later became Govenor of Texas) asking to be reinstated to the US Marine Corps. Mr Kerr was the Navy JAG chief counsel to the SECNAV. He wrote the legal brief that argued against reinstating Oswald. Mr. Kerr argues that final rejection by Secretary Connally gave Oswald the motive to kill Govenor Connally. We all know Lee Harvey was not a great shot. This book provides an interesting first person account by someone who worked directly for some of the most pwerful people in government and industry. You may not agree with Mr Kerr, but you will be provoked to thought.
