In and Out of Harm's Way December 26, 1999 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If one is looking for excellent role models and hero's of the last century this is the book for you. I picked it up and had trouble putting it down. Some wonderful accounts of truly dedicated professional nurses who devoted their lives in service to their country. Read and enjoy, a well written book.
A wonderful book about dedicated "caregivers" in harm's way August 25, 1998 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have never read a history book which was so spell binging. I had trouble putting it down once I started reading it. There are numerous accounts of courageous people & their personal experiences in dealings with life. It is a very moving account of history that anyone can enjoy reading.
An interesting book on women's and military history April 22, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ms. Sterner provides an interesting foray into the History of the Navy Nurse Corps, incorporating personal interviews and accounts from the people who lived the history. This book should spark discussion and thought.
An Intriguing Book, A Fascinating Read April 9, 1998 "In and Out of Harm's Way" is an engrossing study in the history of the Navy Nurse Corps, told through personal narratives and first-hand accounts. Although I originally viewed the subject as being perhaps too centralized, the book will appeal to history buffs, military enthusiasists and students of women's history alike. This book should be enjoyed by generations to come.
