Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

The most anticipated story in the blockbuster Dark-Hunter series. The never-before-revealed story of the Dark-Hunter leader, Acheron. He was made human in order to escape death, but in death he was reborn a god. . .

Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. However, his human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Then, brought back against his will, Acheron became the sole defender of mankind.

Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he’ll do anything to keep concealed. Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.

Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both.

War has never been more deadly... or more fun.

4 out of 5 stars Acheron   September 8, 2008
Christine Fox (Arizona)
I was a bit surprised at the brutality of the book. I believe she went a bit over board in her quest to make us understand Acheron and I don't think the length of his suffering was necessary. She is an excellent writer for this series and I look forward to completing the book - I have 3/4 done. I hope that I will read some positive and lighter side now that he has become his future. I will definitely need to read a comedy after this one.

5 out of 5 stars first time dark hunter reader, great book   September 8, 2008

I have heard of the dark hunter books, but this was the first time I read them. The book was a fast pace good read. I am going to start the Dark Hunter book from the beginning.

Having read all the books in the Dark Hunter series that have been published I was really looking forward to the Acheron book on his life story. Was forewarned by my daughter who had read it before me that part of it was upsetting to say the least. Although brutal, but honest and to the point, it gave the reader an insight to Acheron's early life and the reader realised why he was always wary and evasive about his personal life.
However, reading the second half was wonderful and it was amazing that Acheron found someone to love who showed that his past did not deter her from wanting to be with him forever. Finished the book yesterday and felt elated and happy. Wonderful story and congratulations to Sherrilyn for keeping the reader on tenderhooks all the time.

5 out of 5 stars Wowzer!!!!   September 8, 2008

For those of you out there that are Sherrilyn Kenyon and DH fans, this is the book to beat all books. The first four hundred plus pages are so sad and poignant that you need a box of tissues next to you. For those who have never read Sherrilyn Kenyon but want to get into some paranormal romance, this should be considered the book of the century. If this book was worth a hundred dollars, it would still be worth it to buy it! Don't miss out on the best book written!
