We had the pleasure of dining at the Salt Shaker while in Buenos Aires. This Spanish English Dictionary is a fun reference book to use when trying new Spanish dishes.

If only I had this book with me on my last trip to Spain. I would have been able to tell my host that I like my meat "poco hecho"(rare),that the "postre" (dessert)was delicious and that I had "sobrealimentarse" (overeaten). So much succinct information in such a light-weight book makes it a perfect travel companion. Bravo to the author.

Dan Perlman's Spanish-English food and wine dictionary is the best example of such a work that I've ever seen, and I've searched for a long time. I don't think any similar book comes within several light years in quality or completeness. His book is thorough, easy to navigate and contains just about everything you are likely to encounter food- and drink-wise in a Spanish speaking country. Being the red-blooded American that I am, I was especially glad to learn how to ask about finding a hamburger joint (hamburguesa). As a wine and food writer soon to visit Spain, you can bet I'll be taking this book with me.

The only change I would make would be to group the entries along the lines of beverages, entrees, meats, fish, etc. Even without this, the book is nothing short of extremely useful and user friendly.
