Product Description
All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she'll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member—a man trapped in a hell of his own.

Neither can resist the instant hunger that calms their torments…and ignites an irresistible passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction—and a soul-shattering test of love….

3 out of 5 stars A new take on things...   August 18, 2008

I liked the concept of this book, it's different from what I normally run across. Once I finished it I immediately went out to find the next book. This series is my new addiction....

3 out of 5 stars Interesting read   August 16, 2008
Debra A. Qualmann (Beaver Dam, WI)
Maddox is fused with the spirit of Violence. We learn early in the story that Maddox's only sexual experiences are Paris's(The Demon with the spirit of Promiscuity) leftovers. Moddox is described as a handsome, well built guy--but the very spirit of Violence makes no woman who isn't under a spell of lust to truly crave him. Ashlyn is attracted to Maddox because he quiets the voices she has always heard in her head. She doesn't see the violence in his behavior--or is it she accepts it, and doesn't fear it. By the same token, Ashlyn pacifies the demon inside of Maddock

The premise for this series is interesting, the action lends interest to the plot--and the sex is pretty hot.

5 out of 5 stars Darkest Night - You will love   August 13, 2008

Spellbinding. A must read. Keeps your interest from the first page. Also read the other books in the series. Gena Showalter has outdone herself again.

2 out of 5 stars a let down   August 9, 2008

I have enjoyed this author in the past and for some reason am always drawn to paranormal romance so I was very excited about this seris. However I really didn't like this book at all. The characters had no depth or believability to me. I didn't really care about them at all. I did think it was an interesting slant with the whole demon thing but its the interaction between the people that means the most to me. I felt like it jumped around so much trying to lead into a sequel that it just kinda fell flat for me. OH well.

I was hooked and engaged by the premise, fast-paced writing, plot, characters, and their angst. I'd tried an earlier book by Gena S and it wasn't for me, but something told me I might like something else by her. And I'm glad I tried her again because I love this series so far. The covers are really cool too. Thanks, Gena!
