Product Description What s a girl to do? Her husband ships out on an aircraft carrier for months on end leaving this naive newlywed to deal not only with boredom and loneliness, but with psychotic house cats and uppity appliances as well! Great Read! October 12, 2007 A. Zigler (Pensacola, Florida) This is a really great read. Although I am a seasoned Navy wife, it was a great to be able to read about something you can truly relate too. The book is great for a soon to be Navy wife or new Navy bride. I found myself not able to put the book down and read it all the way through the same day that I received it. I am on the countdown right now until my husband deploys for a Med cruise in less than a month so it gave me some chuckles while helping him prepare. I highly recomend this book to all Navy spouses and girlfriends, if not for information, but to bring a smile to your face and think about your own misadventures while hubby is away.
It's mildly entertaining. Mildly at best. October 1, 2007 J. Jurgensen (WA, USA) The book is very short, and I did not find that I related to the woman at all. This would not matter if I felt I learned something from the book or was entertained, which I did not and was not. Quick, light reading but I did not love it.
COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!!! December 9, 2006 V. Spooner I couldn't put down "When Will My Ship Come In" until I finished it! Perfectly delightful! LOVED IT! It should be required reading for all Navy wives and future Naval wives!!!
Are you married to a military man? Have you ever wondered what it would be like? May 1, 2006 L. A. Krueger (Wisconsin) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Linda A. Krueger has written a book, "When Will My Ship Come In? The Misadventures of a Navy Wife," which showcases the emotional ups and downs of life as the wife of a United States Navy Enlisted man. Having grown up in San Diego, California, where it's rumored that you can find a Naval installation or two, did nothing to prepare a na?ve twenty-two year old for the challenges that faced her once she exchanged vows with her sailor, Dan. "When Will My Ship Come In? The Misadventures of a Navy Wife" is the true story of Linda's experiences during her time as a Navy wife. Taking a cue from Erma Bombeck, one of Linda's favorite author's, Linda has injected wit and laughter into even her most painful trials, making her book one that will resonate not only with military wives, but for those who have always wondered what it would be like to be married to a military man. Included in her book are actual excerpts from letters Linda received from her husband while he was deployed. During the eight years of marriage spent serving in the Navy in Jacksonville, Florida, Linda and her husband faced several intense situations. During the first deployment of their marriage, Dan was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Saratoga when they were called into action after terrorists hijacked the luxury liner Achille Lauro, then killed one of the passengers. Then, during his next deployment, and only five months after the Achille Lauro incident, the Saratoga was called into action again when Libya's Mohammar Khadafi drew his "Line of Death" in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. In our nation's ongoing fight in the war on terror, it is difficult to find anyone who has not been touched by it in a personal way. Linda's touching, yet humorous treatment of such serious circumstances can help bring a much needed rest from the stress on our lives. Linda's love and admiration for the military, and especially military spouses, is quite evident in "When Will My Ship Come In? The Misadventures of a Navy Wife." The courage that our men and women in uniform display goes without question. Now, through Linda's firsthand experiences with the US Navy, we are all able to see the tremendous courage and dedication that those who are left at home display, quietly, every day. Now, twelve years after leaving the US Navy, Linda lives with her family in her husband's hometown in Wisconsin's Northwoods.

Realistic, hilarious, but true situations of military life. A must read book for a new Navy wife.
