The JVC RV-NB1 Kaboom Series Boombox is a powerful CD/MP3 portable player with a funky feature -- a built-in guitar amp featuring twin super woofers for massive sound and rich, deep bass tones. This unit will play CDs, CD-R/RWs, and MP3, so you can access your favorite tunes from virtually anywhere in your music library. The RV-NB1 also plays all your old favorites on cassette and delivers clear AM/FM radio. The tuner stores 15 AM and 30 FM stations in its memory for quick tuning at the touch of a button. I haven't owned a boombox for quite some time only because they never seemed to sound that great. But this JVC Kaboom box has great sound and power. I would recommend it to my friends.

I am a drummer and I bought this unit with which to play along! Finding a portable box that has enough power to put out the volume one needs to play drums and still hear the music is no easy task. Thanks to the "Kaboom Box" the task was made much easier. Not only does the "Kaboom Box" have volume to spare, it actually sounds great too. I really enjoy playing along with my favorite cd's. I don't have to hold back at all such is the power of this box. Other musicians who practice in the warehouse where I rent my rehearsal space have actually wondered if it was a band practice upon hearing me play along. The fidelity and the bass projection really does mimic a full band. Other features are manual locks on the cd and cassette deck and remote control. This is a big bookshelf system with an even bigger dynamic sound!

I had an older KaBoom box, the first generation. It had a hard life and I replaced it with this one. I was very happy to see the KaBoom box on Amazon. The RV-NB1 is an awesome piece of equipment. You can add other sources through the connections, but I am totally happy with everything the way it comes out of the box. The MP3 capability (off of a CD) is one of the main features I looked for in this type of boom box. The sound quality is super! A little pricey, but you truly get what you pay for.

Technology is amazing. I bought this boombox expecting quality, but this tops my highest expectations. The sound quality is great; so great that I now use this in my car instead of my car speakers... Really!!
I use this on rechargeable batteries because I am a Lifeguard, and have taken to using it in my car too!
You'll definitely want to buy a charger and some rechargeable batteries if you are using it daily on batteries though, it can burn through them quickly, especially at high volumes.
Would definitely recommend to everyone who has $250 to spend on a boombox.

The only reason I left out a star on this is it REALLY is heavy, and it would've been nice to have a carry handle on top. Otherwise it's great - even for the price. I love the mic input, which makes announcing at singing telegram type performance settings great - especially with a lapel wireless mic; I haven't used the guitar input yet, but it may make a coffee shop gig an easy setup, if the lapel mic works on both! I'm very pleased with this purchase.
