Product Description Bring your audio and video to life with an excellent HDMI DVD player for your TV. When you use an HDMI port for connectivity with your 1080p capable TV. this Philips DV5982 DVD Player will upconvert an ordinary DVD to appear as if it were native to 1080p. DVP5982 is a winner October 13, 2008 Timothy D. Waxler (Jackson, MI) We purchased two of these units for use in a display stand for work. I liked the units so well, I bought one for home. We lost one of the remotes on a trip to China, and to buy a remote direct from Philips was almost the price of a new unit. So, I purchased this one for the remote, and now have a spare player. LOL
Decent, cheap, unlockable September 15, 2008 J. Downey Motion a bit pixelated when viewed through latest generation HD LCD with 120Hz motion control, but picture is good overall. Best feature for those with foreign films, google remote control code to permanently unlock unit to play films of any region. They're yours aren't they?
Good, but . . . September 2, 2008 History Professor This DVD player appears to be a good buy for the price. The only thing I might note is that it does not appear to include the type of cable that allows for the best resolution to be displayed on your TV. (You have to buy that separately.) Instead, it includes a cable that allows for playing a DVD on your television, but only at basic quality. Given the type of person buying this DVD player, it might be better to include the upgraded cable and simply charge more for it.
throw something at me September 2, 2008 C. Jordan (albemarle north carolina) plays every thing i got, off my western 260 gig Xdrive from latop, or from front USB port, plays all my frost wire type down loads, no matter which format, plays burnt stuff off my Nero Ultra 7, and my DivX pro and my Jet Audion pro..got a friend that burns off Direct Satalite, plays everything..just throw something at it, it'll play it, incredible how fast DivX pro burns and how much one can put on a DVD and the player plays it all great, cuts down burn time compared to Nero Ultra 7 by a third at least. i aint even tried VOD yet. for 75 bucks? cant be beat !
Great September 2, 2008 A. Cho (Honolulu, HI USA) Everything works as stated. Love the USB feature. Little wider than my previous player which was a phillips dvp3960... Worth the price i paid for it.
