Cheap but decient speakers September 19, 2008 D. Lutz (Sciota, Illinois USA) I bought these for a 2003 honda goldwing. They fit fine other than they are smaller than OE so I had to slot the mounting ears to get the screw to hold them in. Installed with the factory radio they aren't any better than the OEM speakers. But I put a Sony 4XMS amp on these and they really do shine. Can't handle much bass but what do you expect from a 4" speaker. I can hear my tunes loud and clear at 70mph now. For the price you can't beat it. Probably will change out for Polk 5" speakers in the future though. The mounting tabs feel a little too thin.
PYLE PL-42BL Blue Label 4" 180-WATT 2-WAY Coaxial Speakers are Great Speakers May 28, 2008 Howard Stamp (New York) The the sound of the PYLE PL-42BL Blue Label 4" 180-WATT 2-WAY Coaxial Speakers is great. I put these on the JVC KD-G340 and I get awesome sound. Great response in all ranges.
Fine for price, but not much! May 23, 2008 Ethan Lofton (Durango, Colorado USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Considering how inexpensive these speakers are, they perform well. I upgraded stock speakers from my '92 Saab 900, and the difference wasn't too great. The Pyle's sounded better, but seemed to distort more at higher volumes and handle hardly any bass. My stereo sends maybe 18 watts rms max, and these speakers can barely handle it (not sure where they got 180 watts MAX) I'm used to very high quality audio equipment, I suppose I was expecting too much from such low-priced speakers. Overall, don't expect sound you would get from a higher-end system. Since these are lower-end (but NEW), I thought they would sound better than mid-end stock speakers from 15 years ago--not true. If you're renovating your sound system and want something that sounds excellent, don't get these speakers just because they look newer. They will, however, work if you just want a simple sound system in your car that sounds like a 'normal' mid-lower end home stereo system.
not bad for the price May 15, 2008 A. Newton i was wanting something that would fit behind the factory Grills on my 97 nissan pickup. these did that with room to spare. not as loud as i would have liked, but well built, and again, for the money they are a huge step above the stock units.
GREAT for the price! May 11, 2008 Mark Student (Shelton, CT USA) This is a really great speaker. The quality is more than good enough for the price that you pay. I bought these with a set of 5 1/2" three-ways from Pyle. I swear that when I turn on bass boost in my car, they handle it just like a basic sub. I don't know how long they'd last keeping it like that, cause I don't. But they are very good. Very clean and clear sound that is put out well.
