Amazon.com Product Description Hailing from Pyle's Chopper series, the PLA-2200 two-channel car amplifier is designed from the ground up to deliver the power, performance, and flexibility demanded by the modern car enthusiast. The amp is outfitted with two channels that pump 80 watts of RMS power each into 4 ohm speakers or 140 watts each into 2 ohm speakers, with a max power delivery of 700 watts per channel. As an alternative, listeners can bridge the channels into a single 1,400-watt max output--ideal for driving a heavy-duty subwoofer. Also along for the ride are built-in high- and low-pass electronic crossovers (40 to 250 Hz) for precise filtering and a variable input level (gain) control that lets you match the outputs of your head unit with the amplifier. Add in a remote bass boost that increases the bass level by as much as 18 dB and you have a powerful, versatile device that strives to accommodate all types of equipment. Internally, the PLA-2200's thermally stable Mosfet transistors are built to withstand prolonged exposure to high temperatures. However, should the amp reach an excessive operating temperature, the unit's thermal protection circuit is designed to kick in, thus shutting down the amp until the conditions cool off. This protective feature dovetails with the amp's other protection circuits, which include both overload and short circuit protection. Other features include gold-plated RCA inputs and outputs for high-impedance speakers, a slim design that's installs easily in most vehicles, power and protection LED indicators, anti-thump and soft turn-on circuits, and a remote turn-off function that coordinates with the head unit to save current consumption. The PLA-2200 measures 10.63 by 1.42 by 8.75 inches (W x H x D) and carries a two-year warranty on parts and labor. What's in the Box PLA-2200 amplifier, mounting hardware, user's manual.

Great item for the $. September 24, 2008 Jeffrey S. Hanlon This is the 2nd one I have bought. Both are working great. Had a proffessional installer asist in putting it in and he was impressed with the sound compared to some of the other more expensive brands out there. Highly recommended.
DO NOT BUY PYLE August 14, 2008 Christian Thames 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Pyle creates crappy car audio gear. They rate their amps by MAX output (must be hit by lightning to reach this wattage). It has 2 10A fuses. That means it will produce MAYBE 200 watts (any more will blow the fuses). So to rate it a 1400 watt amp is flat out lying. If you want a cheap amp that actually does rated power, try Phoenix Gold, or Hifonics. They have amps in the same price range that actually put out better power, won't overheat or blow up, and is a far better value.
Works Great for my uses June 28, 2008 Frank D. Harrison 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this amp to hook up to complete my system, and it works great. I don't usually bump it so loud that my ears pop, but it'll do it. I haven't had overheating problems, but like I said, I don't have it really loud for a substantial amount of time. Bottom line, I'm very pleased. Great price for the product!
