With Expanded Sound Stage technology, the speakers sound further apart than they really are for a bigger soundstage. View larger. View Remote. | Superior Sound in a Small Package Employing dual two-inch neodymium drivers that are optimized for high-frequency sound, the iM600 offers unmatched musicality and clarity. Despite its compact size, the bass is punchy and has good extension, and with Altec Lansing's Expanded Sound Stage (ESS) technology, the speakers will sound further apart than they actually are, for a greater stereophonic image. Elegant Design Matches the iPod The iM600 sports a distinctive thin and elegant glossy-black look. A spring-loaded button deploys the speaker's stand and reveals the iPod dock, power button, and volume controls. Your iPod perches front and center, resting at an angle to display the current track information and album art while recharging. If your iPod model has the alarm clock and sleep timer features, they will work seamlessly with the iM600. Various docking adapters are included, making the iM600 compatible with most iPods. Also, an auxiliary input lets you connect any CD, DVD, or MP3 player using a stereo mini-plug. Built-in FM Tuner If you get bored with the songs on your iPod, the iM600 has a built-in FM tuner, letting you listen to your favorite music and talk radio. Near the top of the unit is an LCD that displays the current FM frequency; buttons on top provide tuning controls. The tuner also features a memory for four presets and a telescoping antenna for better reception. Change the Music from Across the Room A small remote control is included, letting you change the musical selection from across the room. A storage slot built into the system itself makes it easy to store the remote, preventing you from losing it behind couch cushions and other inconvenient places. Take Your Music To-Go With a compact size that folds closed to a mere 11 x 1.7 x 6 inches (W x D x H), and weighing only 2.1 pounds, the iM600 is easy to take with you to the beach, on vacation, or wherever you else you're going. The built-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery lets you listen to more than 7 hours of continuous play. An AC adapter is included for connected listening and recharging the battery. The Altec Lansing iM600 is backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box iM600 speaker system, wireless remote, iPod docking adapters, power supply, user's guide and quick connect instructions.
The iM600 will provide enough big sound to keep your party rocking. |

Everything I expected November 16, 2008 Mr. DIY guy (Fairfax, VA) I don't normally write reviews, so this is legitimate. I've used this for several weeks, so far, it was everything I expected. I mostly use it plugged in our kitchen, but several times have used it's built in battery capability by using it in my garage. Sound is good. Radio, is so-so, but that's not why I bought it. Compared to the Bose, one nice feature is being able to go up and down songs using buttons on the radio rather than using the remote. Only features I wish it would have are leaving the IPOD screen lit up while in play - but no other sound dock does this either that I could find. I wish the remote would allow moving up and down playlists like the Bose does - this is so minor. I have no regrets with this purchase and now knowing all the product capabilities and deficiencies would happily buy it again. Now about the lack of shuffling within playlists....who in apple should I talk with.. -Kevin from Fairfax VA
awesome sound November 16, 2008 C. Truax This little box has awesome sound! Not only that but it's portable with battery power, and when plugged in, charges your ipod. What more could you want?
Altec Lansing iM600 iPod Portable Audio system November 16, 2008 Happy User-Burleson, Tx. (Burleson, Texas) I love my Altec Lansing iPod docking station/portable audio system. My husband bought it for me at our local retail electronic store. The audio was great. I loved it so much, that I ordered another for my upstairs from Amazon because they had the best price. I saved over $50. My husband was thinking about buying one for his iPod in our TV room, so he ordered one from Amazon also. The teachers at the school where he works all have the same one. We love ours. We now have 3 in our home. Happy User(Burleson, Texas)
Great item, with one drawback.... November 13, 2008 J. Stone (California, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love my Altec-Lansing speakers; the sound is fantastic for my needs. I'm no audiophile, but I do like great sound, and this works really well, with wonderful portability; The biggest drawback, though, is that, while it will play the new nano 4th generation, and iPod touch 2nd generation, it will not charge them, which to me is a huge drawback. If you have one of the previous generations of ipods and you're going to stick with them, I'd recommend this; just beware of its limitations for the newest generations.
Great speakers at a reasonable price November 12, 2008 C. Perry (Oakton, VA USA) Recently received this product, and have only used for a short while, but would highly recommend it. Since the price is now only $79.99, it's definitely a good bargain - relative to other systems. I would rank the quality as high or higher than any iPod speakers I have heard/used. Even with the volume at a low to moderate level the output is loud, clear and has decent range. Use in an office, or even a large room is possible. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, but still want to enjoy sound quality I would recommend these Altec Lansing speakers. Great as a gift, or for yourself.
