Low Quality Materials July 4, 2008 after installing this head unit I was very disappointed at the low quality material the main knob is made out of. It is Very Easily scratched and looks "worn out" only after a few times using it. Shame on you Pioneer!
Flexible and sounds good July 4, 2008 The pioneer has it all. Blue tooth works well after you learn how to pair your phone to it. The instructions provided by pioneer did not work. I had to experiment a bit until I found a way to do it. However, it still won't download my contacts. The hands free phone interupt is flawless. the tone and sub controls are incredibly flexible allowing you several selections for the bandpass of the sub and crossover of the main speakers. Sat radio is a great feature to add easily. Ipod integration works perectly too.
Top Notch Deck June 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Seriously, who needs a dvd player in their dash? All you need is a good unit that plays your music, and this one plays it all. It will handle all the standard CD, CDR, mp3, WMA, AAC files along with iPod. The iPod controls are excellent. iPod is the only mp3 player I have tried and I suspect others won't work, at least not well. I was also able to play mp3s from my cell phone via bluetooth. Speaking of bluetooth, cell phone integration is a snap. I'm using a Sony phone with mine and it works perfectly with it. The contacts download to the unit so I never have to look at the phone. I also tried an iPhone and a Samsung SGH-A737. The iPhone worked great but the Samsung would not allow the the contacts to download.
The main reason I chose this one over other double dins is the clean, simplistic look this one has. This is easily the best looking one available. While many cd players of this size can have twenty or more buttons this one has ten plus a center control knob. The knob serves many functions much like an ipod click wheel. The navigation through the menus is not perfect but is still just as good or better than most other units. It has a ton of features to please almost anyone. High pass and low pass filters with sub controls and multiple settings for more complex systems yet it's simple enough for a drop in replacement for a factory radio.
My biggest complaint is the fact you have to buy separate hardware to enable HD radio. This will cost you an extra $80-$100 if you want this feature. It would have been nice to have but I don't think it's worth that much.
Pioneer Car FHP8000BT Double Din June 24, 2008 Hands down, the best HU I've ever bought. I have an iPhone and really enjoy being able to control the ipod features with the head unit itself. I thought it was somewhat user friendly (once you get it figured out it's very simple), and you can do everything from search from a song by artist to play you your playlists you created on iTunes. Music resumes from where you last left off as soon as you plug in the iPhone. The handsfree phone sounds amazing as well to both you and the person you are talking to. Since it downloads your phonebook into the unit itself, it's very easy to take and make a call (and screen a call with the caller ID). When I get into my car I just plug in the ipod cord to the bottom of my iPhone, then put it in my center counsol because you don't need to do anything else with it. Caller ID, Song ID, etc. are all on the display. If the iPhone ever gets A2DP then this HU will be ready with its full bluetooth audio capability. The audio options allowed me to edit the sound to make my stereo sound like I got new speakers as well (fuller bass and louder)!
Great product June 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've been using this stereo for a few weeks now. It connected up to my IPOD nano without any problems. I also use the bluetooth for phone calls frequently. That is my favorite feature because it automatically connects to my phone when I get in the car and the reception and mic work great. Very happy with purchase.
