Piece of Junk October 15, 2008 John Adams With my old HP42s to compute sqrt(-1) you punched 3 keys: 1, +/- (change sign), sqrt; simple, straight forward RPN. For the HP35S the same key strokes give "INVALID DATA". You can ultimately compute the sqrt(-1), but it takes about 8 or 11 key strokes. Cannot give the exact sequence since I returned the calculator. I feel sorry for anyone who thinks this is a good calculator, they may not have had a real HP before the greed of Fiona. Too bad zero stars are not allowed.
better than the 33s October 14, 2008 Brian E. Justice (Raleigh, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
HP got back to it's roots on this one. Way better than the 33s. The keys click, like an HP should. The solver entry is a little different, and it should have came with a paper copy manual.

Carries on the HP Calculator Tradition October 11, 2008 Wayne (North Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As an owner of HP calcultaors since the 1970s (beginning with the HP-33C) I have to say the HP-35s carries on the tradition with great key-feel and usability. I now own two HP-35s one for my engineering lab and the other for my office. In my collection are the HP-33C, HP-41C, HP-19BII and the HP-35s. The 35s has the same ruggedness and "feel" as the original 33C with the advanced features of the 41C. New to the HP-35s is optional algebraic entry. (RPN is still the default mode.) Someone who has used TI calcultors may find the 35s in ALG mode an attractive choice. As someone who is "used" to RPN I'm lost when I grab an algebraic calcultor. The HP-35s seems like an old friend - I may go for a third one...

I really the calculator, however I wish HP would bring back the 11C and 32S.
