Amazon.com Product Description Bright lights, burly cases, fail-safe on/off switches, virtual indestructibility: there are good reasons to rave about Mag Instrument flashlights. Powered by 2 D-cell batteries, the bright, powerful light adjusts from spot to flood simply by rotating the head. The light is housed in a case made of high-strength aluminum alloy that has been anodized inside and out. This, along with high-quality O-rings at both openings, give you water- and shock-resistance in a lightweight package. Maglite's switches are rubber-coated, weather-protected, and self-cleaning-they're virtually indestructible. In short, this flashlight is almost indestructible-a good quality when it comes to the tools re rely on to help you find your way in the dark. Limited lifetime warranty. Requires 2 D-cell batteries (not included). Includes spare bulb (stored in end-cap). If you want more run-time than 2 D-cells will give you, see Mag Instrument products #S3D016 and #S4D016.--Josh DettweilerWhat's in the Box Flashlight, spare bulb

MAG stands for quality March 26, 2008 A. Wong (Seattle, WA USA) Small, compact, yet bright and sturdy. Can't really say anymore since the quality speaks for itself. I bought this for my girlfriend who puts it in her car for emergencies. Can't trust anything else!
The standard in 2 D cell flashlights March 10, 2008 Bob (Big Bear, Ca United States) I've owned the same 2 D Cell Maglite for about eight years, and it still works like new. It cost a little more than most of the 2 D cell flashlights out there, but it's worth it. The variable beam width is great, as is the solid aircraft grade aluminum housing. I believe this flashlight will last until I loose it or die, because it is so well built. I own some other water proof emergency 2 D cell flashlights that float, and have a decent beam but they do not have a variable beam that will go from wide to a very tight beam of light, and they don't compare to the solid construction, and reliability of the 2 D cell Maglite. This is a flashlight that you can carry in your Car SUV, Truck or what ever you drive, and it's a great choice because of its size and weight it should fit any just about any glove compartment.
Maglite December 17, 2007 Jo Lynn Cooper (Gilbert, AZ USA) Bought as Christmas gift for my brother so I can't attest to the performance, but I don't expect any problems. Arrived in a timely manner and in good shape. Good looking item.
Great Basic Flashlight June 19, 2007 P. Wendlandt (USA) We got this handy light for camping & love its sleek style & good source of light. Keeps a strong light for long & not super heavy for convenience.
worked while it lasted December 27, 2006 AsteriX (Ukiah, CA USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
maglite name used to stand for quality flashlights. i purchased 2 cell C & D flashlights and they only lasted for a year. i suppose for 15 dollars that isn't bad. Still i would rather not have to replace them with anything from mag intruments
