He has worked a pair of hours! November 22, 2008 D. Straus (Roseville CA USA) After a first set of batteries, the rotating switch has a misfire which makes me unable to turn it on. Moreover, the reflector turns blue due to the reflective coatings that it's out... So expensive for what it is. Only the red color of light is today the only poor consolation.
A very low cost, useful, well made flashlight November 17, 2008 A. Huang (So. Cal.) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great little flashlight. My second AA Mini Mag. Compared to my regular AA Mini Mag that I converted to LED with the Nite Ize LED/IQ switch upgrade this is cheaper and has a more adjustable/wider beam pattern. My only complaint with this is the twist to turn on feature that makes it pretty much a two handed operation to turn it on/off. The Nite Ize IQ switch makes it a one handed operation. Still a very useful and convenient little flashlight. I find I use these more than my 5W Luxeon converted Maglite.

Medicore at best October 22, 2008 Steven Woolman 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had been looking for a good compact LED flashlight for several months and couldn't find anything I liked. Then this light came out and I grabbed it as soon as I found it. Worked great for about a week and then it started to get flakey on me. Sometimes it would light and work find, sometimes it wouldn't light unless you tapped the barrel. Contacted Mag company about it and they informed me that the contacts at the bottom of the light were probably corroded (on a light that was only a month old?) Well they were right and I had to use a pencil eraser to clean up the contacts to get it working again (and had to do that every couple of weeks to keep the light working.) Then I dropped it, missed the silly little belt pouch, and it hit the floor from about 3 feet. The light wouldn't light at all. Openned the light up and the bulb fell out. checked the battery side and the little contact surface I had been having so much trouble with was also broken. Overall I have been happy with every mag product I have ever owned except this one.
My kids love it October 2, 2008 Joshua Schwartz (Israel) My kids absolutely love this light. It should be said upfront that when the batteries go the light suddenly simply shuts off. You get the same very bright light until the last second then poof it goes out. I think this may be a function of the LEDs. In order to reach the point where an edge emitting diode will put out substantial light you must cross a certain forward bias current. If you can live with that the batteries last a long time (my son fell asleep several nights in a row with it turned on and it lasted for some time after that as well). The light is very bright, so bright in fact that you shouldn't look directly into the beam. It is tough (i.e. it continues to survive my 5 year old, a very tough customer). The LED light is not exactly white. It has a lot of blue in it making things look unnatural. But again I think that is a function of the LED and no flashlight retains the whole spectrum of color well, but you should be aware upfront. All in all a very good flashlight.
