Product Description The 728B has a built-in smooth-moving 3 way head in cast aluminum suitable for use with small video cameras as well as with photographic equipment. The head has separate pan and tilt locks, a quick release camera plate and with a short pan/tilt bar for more ergonomic use, particularly while panning or tracking moving subjects. The leg pivot system uses a unique single hinge design in aluminum, which both keeps the cross section smaller and allows the leg to fold shorter than conventional tripods. The tripod is built with "D" profile tubular legs for extra torsional rigidity and quick flip leg locks for ease and speed of set-up. A quick action lever also blocks the reversible center column extension.

Solid March 28, 2007 Donald H. Nguyen 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a solid tripod -- very well constructed. It's easy to use, too. In hindsight, I might have opted instead for the ball head, and the quick release, but that's minor. I think this one is actually more solid.
Great SLR tripod for hikers February 8, 2008 Aramina Roselani (Portland, OR) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Since I take mostly landscape photographs, I don't like dealing with heavy tripods. I hike extensively and go on lengthly backpacking trips. This is an excellent alternative to the heavy Bogen/Manfrotto tripods, without sacrificing quality. I'm really impressed with the construction, and I've had no trouble with the head (smooth and easy to operate). The legs are strong and withstand decent stream/river currents without shaking. Each leg operates separately, so propping up your camera in uneven terrain is a cinch. I'm a huge fan of this tripod, and look forward to many years of hard use.
Quality Tripod May 8, 2007 Velvon E. Summers 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Manfrotto tripod proved to be very adequate for my needs. The tripod load capacity was able to tolerate my Minolta 7D w/vertical grip with no problems. The camera remained very steady while on the tripod. I was fearful at first that it would not hold up with such a load. I have no more fears.
Quality! May 9, 2007 R. L. Frank 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was pleasantly surprised by the stability, finish and ease of operation this tripod provides for my camcorder. Make no mistake, this is not really a tripod designed for camcorders. The head does not pan quite as smoothly as a true fluid head, but unless you need to move your camcorder around a lot, it should be no problem. For keeping the image steady, even on a breezy day, it is great. For SLRs and DSLRs, even with some fairly long lenses, this would be an excellent. choice. It weighs about 4 pounds and comes with its own carry-bag. One thing...if you are going to use it with more that one camera, get extra quick-release plates. It will make things a lot easier.
A Great Tripod August 4, 2007 John Thomas (Central Coast of California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a compact and stable tripod for the compact dslr user. I have used this tripod with my 70-300mm IS lens on my Canon XTI and am more then happy with it. Yes there are more professsional tripods from this company that offer more stability, but at a cost of increased weight. I use this tripod for outdoor work and when carrying my complete kit, weight is an issue, so this is a great tripod for me and the use I intended for it.
