Gets the green out! July 6, 2008 Sean P. Logue (Research Triangle Park, NC USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Every time I mow the lawn, I get green stains on my feet, particularly the heels and toes. I wash them off afterward, but inevitably a green caste remains over the next week. I've tried the big puffy shower things, which is really the only way to get good lather with modern liquid shower soaps and gels. They work, and produce a lot of lather. But, they are also hard to hold when they are soapy, are a bit scratchy, and not firm enough to really help with the green feet. Unlike some other reviewers here, I never had a problem with how they look, though they do have a distinctly feminine air about them, even if you don't go for the pink. I was detailing my car this morning, and thought about the detailer shower tool from Axe. I guess the clever Mad Men down in marketing got me, because I picked one up in the afternoon while I was out. It actually does look very much like a car detailing tool, with the black and red color scheme and the "tire" ring around the outside edge. It is stylized enough so that it doesn't look like something that should be decorating a mechanic's garage. I have to admit, it does look considerably better hanging in the shower than the purple shower poof it replaced. Thankfully, it is smaller than it appears in the pictures, so it is easy to hold and maneuver. I guess because of the tire outer edge, I was worried it would be too big. The rubber outer edge is soft, and feels like the polyurethane that inflatable pool floats are made from more than the hard rubber of a car tire. This makes it easier to hold, but compressible so that a good lather can be worked up from the black colored shower poof inside (it is in there, hiding behind the red scrubby pad). So already I like this better than the traditional poof, because it feels better in my hand, is easier to hold, and looks better. But, what really threw it over the top for me is the red scrubby pad on the front. At first I thought I would have to add soap to the red pad to use it, but the lather from the poof behind it squeezes right through it, so if you've been using the rest of the tool, the scrubby is all soaped up and ready to go. It is perfect for getting dirt, oils, and, yes, green grass stains off of the soles of feet, toes, elbows, palms, and other tougher areas of the skin (it does tickle a bit!). It is too rough for any other delicate regions, but the puff behind it is fine for those (that one is the same as a standard puff, and is a little bit scratchy like those are, but nothing too rough). So, overall I really like this "detailing tool for bodies." It is easier to hold than a standard puff, looks better hanging in the shower, and has a great scrubby pad built in. A great replacement for the standard combo of shower poof and loofah, and takes up less space. Plus, lately my wife has been asking me why my feet aren't green, which I'd say is a plus. Recommended! Excellent Scrubber and a Skin Defoliator for Women Too July 1, 2008 Bob Feeser (Springfield, PA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I know this is a manly sponge, but don't be surprised if your woman winds up using it too. This sponge has 2 sides. One side reminds you of a regular shower sponge, but instead of being silky, it is a little bit more aggressive. The other side, with the red center is as coarse as a scotch brite pad, although more ideally designed for the purpose, which will soften the more callous areas. This will not replace your wash rag, whereas it won't fit behind your ears. It is strictly a large surface area scrubber. We have a continuum here, starting at soap only with your hand, which only removes the oil and salt deposits from sweat. Then you move up to a wash rag which helps to remove more of the dead skin cells sitting on the surface. The sponge, even on the gentler side is a little more aggressive than a wash rag, and will do a better job of defoliating, plus you can regulate that very easily, based on how much scrubbing you do. I am not a proponent of acid washes, peeling the outer layer of skin off. Maybe that results in the younger looking under layers being brought to the surface, but also removes the outer layer, which is the first line of defense against the sun's harmful rays. This sponge is a nice way of taking it a step farther than a wash rag, while still maintaining the beneficial layer of the skins protection. When I used it on my forehead and cheeks, I immediately noticed the softer more supple feel to my skin. I tried the coarse side on my heel, which has a more callous feel to it, but it also has a small ridge, and the sponge quickly removed the ridge, without irritating my heel. It works great. Overall highly recommended.
Get it for the man you love! (Even if that's you.) July 17, 2008 Kurt A. Johnson (Marseilles, Illinois, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm not normally a fan of Axe products - their commercials appear to have been written with teenage boys as their target audience, but so be it. But, this product I like. It's got a loofa on one side and scrubbing brush on the other, held together by a soft plastic handle that is easy to hold on to in the shower. The style of the unit has a manly, tool-esque look to it, which goes along with their target audience - men. Putting the thing in action, I found it to work real well, doing a good job of steering a happy medium between being too rough, and yet rough enough to get the job done. Overall, I found it to be a great item to have in the shower, and I use it all the time. I highly recommend the Axe Detailer Shower Tool. Get it for the man you love! (Even if that's you.)
Finally a decent shower gel sponge for guys July 15, 2008 Joseph P. Ulibas (Sacramento, CA, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
There's finally a decent shower gel sponge on the market for guys! I enjoyed this shower tool from Axe very much. Not only is it compact, but it has two sides (a soft side for the sensitive areas) and a rough part to clean the heels and palms. The shower tool is easy to hang on to and after you're finished, you can hang it on the shower head. No muss and no fuss with this body scrubber. I tried it out as soon as I received it in the mail. I gave it a good workout and it stood up to the test. Another sold customer for this fine product from Axe. Highly recommended.
Goofy description but good product June 26, 2008 HalfGeek (Washington, DC USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The official product description is a bit cheesy, but it's actually a good product. Yes, it's a loofah. But for guys. So it looks more "masculine," and actually it is something a guy could keep in the shower and it doesn't scream "loofah." What I like about it is that you can actual hold the thing and control it while scrubbing with it. Anyone who's used loofahs knows that the things are kind all over the place, they're hard to scrub yourself with. This thing has a great grip and works quite well - it also has one side soft loofah and other side harder plastic scrubby thing for harder scrubbing. Overall, it's a good product. I'm not sure what they're charging for it, since I'm reviewing it via the Vine program, though it says it comes in a Pack of 4, which made me wonder how long it lasts. Then again, if it's cheap, and the pack of 4 lasts a long while, I'd say it's worth it. And in any case, if you're a guy and won't let a loofah touch foot in your tub, this is for you.
