Good for the lazy face washer September 2, 2008 nowann (United States) I admit, I was lazy about washing the face. I didn't have major skin issues, but the area around my nose is more oily than the rest of my face resulting in very mild acne, and I had a little bit of redness. I tried the daily regiment of cleanser, toner, moisturizer, medication that so many companies offer in a package. My skin would improve, but after a few weeks of using these products, my skin would feel irritated and start peeling despite the moisturizers. I also resisted taking care of my skin by washing because it was a bit of a hassle to remember to do it twice a day. When washing through regular means, I usually had water/cleanser running down my arms which would wet my sleeves or drip onto the counter underneath. Even such a small mess became enough to make me want to stop cleansing so I wouldn't have to bother. Thus, I washed once in a while and started taking my skin condition as more or less acceptable. I've been using the Clarisonic for a number of weeks now, and I must say, I find it very easy to keep using regularly. In fact, I look forward to using it now because it's so easy and the machine does all the work. It felt very odd when running it across the nose the first few times because of the vibrations (ticklish), but after about a week, I didn't notice it anymore. I don't have water dripping everywhere because the moisture as you're cleansing stays contained by the brush bristles against the face. The instructions recommend moving it lightly across your skin in circular motions while the machine is on to clean in sections across your face. I only use it once a day, but the results of using it have been, at the very least, equal to what it was when I was washing manually with cleanser twice a day. My skin does not feel dried out or irritated. I believe there is decreased redness as well. If you take good care of your skin and already are diligent about keeping up a good skin care routine, I doubt this product will really improve upon the quality of your skin. If you are lazy, however, as I was, this product will get you looking like you have as good a skin care routine with half the effort. There are three different timer settings you can choose from. I have mine set to run for two minutes straight without beeping. You can also have it set to beep at 20, 40, 50 seconds on a one minute cycle, and 40, 80, 100 seconds on a two minute cycle to help you to keep track of where you should be running the contraption over your face. Mine stay charged easily for two weeks when using it once a day for two minutes. This makes it so I don't feel like I have to have the charger constantly out, saving me countertop space since all I leave out is the Clarisonic brush. When I need to recharge, I then pull the charger out of the drawer and let it go for a day, and put it away again since I won't need it again for another two weeks. The machine will beep after it finishes running a cycle to let you know you should recharge. The brush head is easy to remove and the brush body easy to clean since everything can be completely surmerged in water. I like the Clarisonic over other company vibrating/pulsing facial cleansing machines because the others require you to buy replacement cleanser pads that are required to use the machine. The replacement pads are often more expensive than the cleansing machine by itself and you don't have a choice of using your own preferred cleanser. The Clarisonic's cost is higher initially, but considering you don't need replacement pads and only need a dollop of cleanser each time (I spread a thin layer over face before turning machine on; less than what I was using when cleansing manually), it's actually cheaper to use the Clarisonic over time, considering most people will use it 1-2 times a day, even with the replacement Clarisonic brush head purchases that may be required a few times a year. The price to buy may seem a bit steep, but I am happy with the investment I made. After all, first impressions mean a lot out in the world, and I am happy I can present myself with healthier looking skin with minimal effort. I would have probably spent the amount for the brush happily for one appointment with a dermatologist and prescribed stuff that wouldn't end up working.
Wish List Must! August 4, 2008 D. Hodapp (IN, USA) This product is amazing. If you have any trouble keeping your pores clear, this brush with your cleanser works wonders. It feels great your face feels stimulated and it is also safe for sensitive and super problem skin. The 2 speed model works just as well. Worth every penny. Your moisturizers never felt so good. The Shiseido brush is a great inespensive way to clean and massage the skin as well. It is manual though.
