Nikon Coolpix L18 is a digital-camera designed to meet everyone's budget. 8 Megapixel sensor delivers outstanding stills and movies. A built-in mic allows sound. 1 out of 5 stars This is the worst camera I've ever owned.   November 21, 2008

I bought the Nikon L18 specifcally over other compact digital's beacuse
of it's AA batteries. That was a mistake. Using the manufacturer's
batteries and charger, if I put a fully charged set of batteries in on
Saturday, and turn the camera on on Monday, I'm rewarded with "Battery
exhausted". Alkalines work better, but not much.

When combined with transfer software that can only be described as lame,
compared to the typical "appears as drive d:" camera interface (You can't
transfer from the camera except via this special application), this
camera is junk to be avoided at all costs.

4 out of 5 stars Great camera, but "EATS" batteries!   November 19, 2008
Larry Daszynski (Sarasota, FL USA)
My wife needed a "SIMPLE" camera. The L18 does the job. It is super easy to use and she loves it. Her only complaint is that she is constantly feeding it batteries.....she used alkaline. We could start using rechargeable, but haven't tried that yet. But the camera is GREAT! Connection to computer for transfer works fantastic. Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE this camera!~   November 12, 2008

This camera is amazing! I love this camera! It's been wonderful taking such fantastic photos. Ones that I actually want to display. =) Ones that people want copies of to put on their walls!
Plus I love the color too! So fun and easy to use!
Love it! Love it! Love it!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
=)

5 out of 5 stars Great "companion" camera   November 9, 2008
SpeedoNJ (NJ USA)
I love point-and-shoots and have no desire at this point to get intoDSLR, and this LITTLE thing works great to have with you all the time. I have bigger P&S from the other mfgs (and Nikon) that do very well but you can't carry them around in your pocket like this one.
Have a Fuji A500 which did just average, this one is much clearer, LCD is huge in comparison, pictures are not grainy.
So for that time when you say "I wish I had my camera with me" get this and keep it by your side at all times (or use it everyday for all your pictures) and you'll be ready. And it comes in red or blue-- no more boring silver or black only.

3 out of 5 stars Nice photos, while it lasts   November 7, 2008
S. D Shearman (Austin, TX USA)
I owned this camera for about a month and really liked it--good shots, fairly good speed, excellent review quality on the huge LCD. and face recognition focus. It even allows you to zoom in/out while you are acquiring video; My older sony won't let you do that.

Huge LCD, low cost, 8MP, what's not to like?

After about a month of use, a small black "crouton" something broke off or came loose inside the camera lens assembly. It positioned itself just on the back of the lens, so that future shots all included a photo of the backside.
