5 out of 5 stars awesome for my 2 little ones   April 18, 2008
I have been using this since the first version came out. Got a free one from the doctor and am now buying a second one for my 4 year old son. My daughter has used it from age 2 to age six and going.

It;s very quiet and doesn't scare them, they can hold it and take it on their own.

Depending on the liquid concentration you get it can take 10 min or 30 min. The shorter is to get the concentrated and add your own saline. The longer is to buy the pre-diluted abuterol.

This is the same as they give in the hospital so it has saved us many trups. Before we had it we would have to goto the emergency room to get anything other than an inhaler.

Great product!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Product!   April 12, 2008
I bought one of these a few years ago and am still using the original mesh screen. It is a very quiet unit so now when I have to use it in the middle of the night I don't have to turn the TV up really loud to overcome the buzzing sound of the compressor used in conventional units.

This is self contained and fits in your hand. It uses two AA batteries which will last up to a few hours, but I bought the A/C adapter and a small DC to AC power inverter to use in case the batteries quit at an inconvenient time. It will work on rechargeable batteries also but you won't get as many uses as with alkaline batteries.

The case is small, as someone else mentioned, but I manage to fit in a couple extra AA batteries and a few vials of the solutions I use. It IS a tight fit, though, when you add those to the case. A small camera bag might be a better choice, especially if you want to keep the power adapter with you.

The original directions said to soak the mesh screen after each use in distilled water for a few hours to clean it, then allow it to air dry. I believe the newer directions make no mention of that, but doing so draws out the salt deposits and makes it last longer. You are also supposed to keep from touching the screen. I don't use mine on a daily basis but it's been about 2-3 years now that I've used the original mesh screen. I use RO (reverse osmosis) water from my special tap to soak the screen in but distilled water is virtually the same.

It's so nice to have something that is so quiet and portable to use for my asthma when it gets bad. I highly recommend this product.

2 out of 5 stars Micromesh cap too fragile for my use   February 5, 2008
When this nebulizer works, it's wonderful. But the strict need for sanitation requires much handling of the fragile micromesh cap. I've gone thru 4 of them in 6 mos. and at approximately $40 a pop, I cannot afford to continue to use it. Some of the caps were too loose, some were too tight and none of them "clicked" in place like it says in the directions...I found it impossible to clean them without poking a hole through the foil mesh (which isn't supposed to be touched by anything...yeah, well I broke one when my hand slipped trying to dislodge a too-tight cap).

If they could design the cap so that it wouldn't be destroyed with normal use, this device would be almost perfect. It's small, light, quiet and efficient. Great for travel. Buy only if you have the dexterity and fine motor skills of a brain surgeon.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible   December 14, 2007

This nebulizer is incredible - well worth the money. Completely silent - absolutely no sound, none, nada. Was a bit worried that I might store it with it on because you can't hear it but there is an "on" light to let you know. Very easy to clean. Can use it in any position - great for sleeping babies. Mask attaches easily for children but I have found that my 2 year old does not need the mask. The mist comes out in a very concentrated stream so you can just hold it in front of their nose/mouth-reduces alot of fights.

My only complaint is that the case is a bit too small (yes, I said too small). Not much bigger than a hard sunglass case - can fit in my small/medium purse and still have room for all of my things. There just really isn't enough room for spare batteries and medicine. There is pocket in the lid of the case but it is impossible to get anything to fit. Not a big deal, just would have been nice to have everything in the case.

Absolutely worth the money. Makes it convenient to use anywhere - and take with you everywhere.

5 out of 5 stars Omron NEU22V Electronic Compressor Nebulizer Review   August 27, 2007

I have been using a nebulizer for approximately 7 years due to COPD. The NEU22V is the third one in the chain. One of my previous nebulizers was also an OMRON product. The NEU22V is by far the most efficient and easiest to use. I like the battery power for it's portability and it is great for traveling. I highly recommend it.
