4 out of 5 stars Wouldn't live without it   October 3, 2008

I have had this docking station now for 2+ years and I seriously can't imagine how hard life would be without it. I have a desk that has a spare HD, an external DVD burner, a memory card reader, ergokeyboard, cordless mouse, a secondary monitor so I can work with two screens, a Cricut die-cutting machine, my IPhone cable, my Nextel phone cradle, a postage scale, a label printer, and speakers. Yeah, I think that's it. Oh, and the cables to download the photos from my kids cameras too. I use the 6 USB ports along with an additional 4-port USB hub to run everything. If I had to connect and disconnect everything, I'd never get any work done. This DOES NOT take up 2-3 times the space. Actually, they improved this design over the last one. It tilts at different angles to conserve desk space. I have mine slightly tilted and the screen sits at a comfortable angle for viewing. Yeah, the speakers aren't the best, but who buys a laptop for the speakers anyhow? The station is slightly longer than the laptop itself, but well worth the money. I would recommend a second power cord. That's the only reason I gave it a 4-star.

5 out of 5 stars Nice enhancement to my HP Notebook   April 9, 2008

I bought my Pavilion dv6000 to replace my desktop. I also wanted a station that would allow me to optimize my new notebook's durability by not wearing down on its keyboard and mousepad; the xb3000 was my solution. I love how it elevates my notebook screen to my eye level; much more comfortable typing for a long time with my eye view, a full keyboard and a mouse. This one came with its own power supply; I guess they're including them from now on. I am also impressed with the speakers that came with the station; the sound is much more rich than the notebook speakers. A con is that I received it (supposedly new) with a scratch on the front.

4 out of 5 stars Bulky, but vary effective   March 22, 2008

I chose this over the xb2000 because of the additional USB ports. It was easy to set up and it makes reconnecting my laptop to all my peripherals (printer, scanner, PDA, backup drive, flash drive, etc.) very easy.

My only reservation about this product is that it is bulky and has a larger footprint than I would prefer. On the postive side, however, this bulk makes for a very solid base and includes some heavy duty speakers.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent< Works Great with 17" Laptop   December 29, 2007

I bought this to setup my HP DV9260Nr Notebook, I have a Direct TV HD Satellite box connected to it, speakers sound a lot better then the notebook, more bass. My notebook has a HD DVD player and remote control so I record a lot of programs on my ltop via Vista Ultimate 64 and the media center. Adding an external hard drive is a easy task, and it fits inside the rear of the base so you never see the hard drive. wireless mouse and keyboard, just as sturdy as any desktop keyboard and mouse, extra usb ports and Blue lcd lights on the controls to match my hp laptop 2 headphone connectors in the front and a mic input. A great way to replace that bulky desktop.

3 out of 5 stars Decent product, needs power supply   December 10, 2007

I bought this docking station a few months back. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with it. Most problems are Vista related. If you run dual monitors and unhook from the docking station, Vista often doesn't recognize it and still thinks you're running another monitor. Updating drivers helped a lot. The fact that the docking station doesn't come with a power supply is joke. Especially for what they were originally charging for it. Prices have come down a lot, but it's still a big issue. I wish the laptop could plug into the dock with connectors like the Dell docking stations (direct connections built in), instead of a cable that plugs into the side. It works though, so I'll live with it. Keyboard and mouse are average. I thought the small built in speakers were decent for their size. Definately an upgrade from the laptop's own speakers. I'm still glad I bought it, but it definately could be improved.
