1 out of 5 stars Failed after 90 days   August 30, 2008

It's cheap but . . . after about 90 days my optical drive stopped working. I shipped my computer to Apple who did a full diagnostics. The verdict? The memory chips were failing. Replaced with Apple memory (very pricey) and everything now works as it should. Buyer beware.

4 out of 5 stars Improved performance   August 12, 2008

Purchased the extra memory for the purpose of running the Windows OS on a Mac Laptop. The Laptop orginally came with 2 GB, however with 4 GB running, Windows runs much quicker along with the PC programs installed. The Mac software only showed a slight improvement after installing the extra memory.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3QZGK0IJX5YWT The video is not a straight forward review (that's down below) but rather what I was able to accomplish using the life saving 4 gigs of Kingston ram.

Ram is ram but for the price the Kingston is king. I can finally run final cut and motion simultaneously without worry. The install in my macbook pro took all of about five minutes. For most mere mortals though 4 gigs is way over kill and it will not allow you to check email or play itunes any faster. One item of note though - For the first two weeks after I installed the ram I would get a black screen of nothing for almost 10 minutes then everything would work fine. I reset the pram but to no avail so I replaced my usual shutdown with sleep. Then about three days ago it returned to booting like a champ. Go figure.

As if 20+ 5 star reviews where not enough, I felt I needed to write a positive review for Kingson's RAM. I installed the 4GB upgrade in my Macbook and saved all kinds of money. I run Windows XP Pro via Parallels with several RAM intensive apps on both ends with no hiccups.

It was so painless and cost effective I just ordered a new iMac with just 1GB of RAM and will upgrade myself.

My only dislike was that I really wanted 800MHz and I could not find that option with Kingston.
