This is my favorite external hard drive by far. Since it is bus-powered via FireWire it doesn't require a power supply or one of those 2 headed USB cables. It is quiet and fast enough for backups. I use 2 of these to create clones of my MacBook Pro internal hard disk. This version of the drive powers down when the computer goes to sleep or you eject the disk (previous versions of the FireLite drive did not). I highly recommend it.

This hard drive is very compact and portable. I use it to backup my MacBook Pro. With the firewire the backup takes less than 2 minutes.

This is an outstanding Hard drive. I was looking for something small and 'powered by firewire' for my MacBook. Verbatim did an excellent job and I saved several bucks by buying it on Amazon instead of the Apple store.

I have three of these drives, and I am very happy with them all. They are a nice size and sit in a little stack on my desk ready to go when I need one. Firewire is the way to go when moving large files. USB is just to slow.
I bought this one to back up my MacBook, because I wanted something this small with its capacity, and I was happy with the other two smaller drives I already owned. I back up incrementally (I don't put all my "eggs in one basket"), so these drives are great for that. My 120 GB one is devoted to storing my iTunes libraries (too unwieldy for my desk top computer), and my 80 GB one is for my pictures libraries and transferring files between my computers. Very handy, and they have been working great. I have backups of my backups on two larger, desktop external drives, but these little guys are the day-to-day workhorses and they have been working without a hitch for several months now.

Bought the FlashTrax Media Player. After a power outage the hard drive was fine, but the main computer would not recognize the drive. We were only three months over the one year warranty, and even though we would pay for the repair they said they wouldn't touch it after it was out of warranty. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Poor attention was given to detailed emails, had to keep repeating the same thing over and over.
Their final response...."But it is the way that we have everything set up. We can not change things because you want us to. It would not be fair to every other customer who fellows the rules and saves their paper work. Good luck." Hello? I had the paperwork.
