I bought this somewhat expensive switch after having many problems over the years with less expensive units. I wanted to buy a switch which would last years and perform well, and 8 ports was important so that I did not have the headache of linking multiple switches. This switch has been absolutely perfect since I bought it about a year ago. It NEVER requires any kind of maintenance (no power-cycling here). It just works, and data transmission is fast. For the extra money over the more common retail brands, you get a switch which will work today and keep working tomorrow.

The 3Com Office Connect Switch is useful in a small or home office. I am a telecommunications instructor with several servers in my home office. The switch handles all the traffic I toss at it without error.

My computer vendor has always said that every part of a network is important and an inferior router or switch will affect the entire network, so I've always used 3Com products and have never been disappointed. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
