1 out of 5 stars Just plain BAD   October 9, 2008
M. S. Petry (Phoenix, AZ)
I purchased this exact model. Never again. I had problems from the beginning. It worked ok for a while, then started making noises. Eventually, it stopped working altogether. Total drive failure. Techsupport is impossible. Dead links for tech or customer service. Waiting on the phone for 40 minutes only to be disconnected. I finally got an RMA to retrun the product. I paid $30 for fedex shipment, only to recieve the product, unfixed a week and a half later. No explanation. No reply. No paperwork. And still no satisfaction or reply from the company. Stay away.. stay very far away

1 out of 5 stars Didn't work and no product support from mfg'er   August 31, 2008

I have had a 60GB Firelite portable HD for years and I love it. I am soon going on a photo safari in Africa and decided I needed a larger one. The 250GB Firelite drive looks great, but performed poorly. When I connected it to my desktop computer two things happened. My computer would not recognize the HD and my computer would freeze up.
I tried all the solutions listed in the FAQ section of the mfg'er's website. I called their technical service but was never able to get through. I e-mailed them for help, but never heard back.

5 out of 5 stars Terrific portable hard drive for Mac users   August 4, 2008

I bought an 80 G Firelite drive over two years ago for a trip around the world and my excellent experience with it has spoiled my appreciation of other drives ever since. I've got several other external hard drives, but none work as effortlessly or are as easily portable as the Firelite. So recently I decided to get a new Firelite 250G, and I'm getting the same terrific results--plug into one USB port and voila. I'm primarily a Mac user and have used these drives with several types of Mac without any problems (G4, G5, MacBook Pro, iMac), so I don't understand why several other reviewers have had trouble with them. I've also used mine with countless PCs in internet cafes around the world, with never a problem. It's ideal for traveling--pop into an internet cafe to download digital photos and movies to free up chips for new images, keep the laptop from getting overloaded with photos. Truly terrific, in my experience.

1 out of 5 stars MAC USERS DO NOT BUY THIS!!! worse possible Customer Service   July 14, 2008

1. Bought it, plugged it in as described, light went solid blue - and NOTHING!
2. Called Customer Service after reading everything in their FAQ's.
3. YOU CANNOT LEAVE A MESSAGE even though they ask you to...
4. Left an email - they never returned the email question.
5. The obvious problem may be a POWER ISSUE - so if you want portability without a power plug, mac users - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
6. repeat last capped phrase: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
