Product Description The new Back-UPS ES 750 VA powers and protects computer systems and their peripherals from power related events. Additionally, it now contains new green features designed to reduce wasted electricity. These features include Master/Controlled outlets which will shut power off to computer peripherals like printers, scanners, and speakers when the equipment plugged into the master outlet is turned off or in sleep mode. The unit now also has a High Efficiency Design which makes it between 3 and 5 times more efficient than competitive products.

Safe again October 9, 2008 Gary D. Howell (San Diego, CA) Easy to install. Software works well. I like the fact that the device also acts like several special application power strips, and that the software doubles as a power line monitor. I tested it by tripping the breaker to my house, it was re-assuring to come into my power-dead home and still find my computer running. No more hard disk crashes for me!
Good, but watch out! October 7, 2008 warrior04 (Hawaii) As soon as i got the ups, i read the installation directions and plugged my computer, monitor and cordless phone into the battery backup and my wireless router, dsl modem and subwoofer into the surge protection plugs. I then plugged the ups into the wall outlet and a whaling sound came from the ups and wouldnt stop. I even unplugged the ups from the wall outlet and the noise continued. After a couple of minutes, it stopped suddenly and everything seemed ok as the green light indicator turned on. Just when i thought everything was ok, i noticed that my wireless router wasnt working. Everything else was on but the router. Come to find out that the ups shorted out my router. I tried to get the ups insurance policy to replace the router, but apc said because my router wasnt damaged by a surge that they wouldnt replace it.I was disappointed when they told me that. Other than that, the ups works fine and the software monitors the battery time of the ups and you can even run tests to see if the ups is in working condition. Just remember to plug in devices one at a time with the ups plugged into the wall.
SAVED! October 4, 2008 Mike (Oxford, OH USA) SAVED MY DATA! Shortly after installation of this unit, we had a massive and lengthy power outage. Performing as advertised, the APC Back-Ups kept the desktop and auxiliary drives up and running and provided ample time to back up and shut down. Under such circumstances, a good idea to then shut off the backup so as not to drain the battery unnecessarily. Ample outlets, but not all of them are battery backed up. The accompanying documentation lacks some clarity in my opinion, but an E-Mail contact to their tech. support was promptly answered.
Master Control is Useless for iMacs September 23, 2008 Darius K. (White Hall, MD) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Good thing the master control feature can be turned off. If you plug an iMac into master and any USB or firewire controlled device in the controlled outlets, you are in for some entertainment. When the iMac goes to sleep, the UPS will power down the USB or firewire devices, which the iMac will still detect as a device removal, which will cause the iMac to wake up and pwer is restored t the devices. The iMac will quickly go back to sleep, which will cause the devices to power down, which will then ... and then ... forever and ever. Otherwise, a nice product. What I noticed most is how much the battery weight has decreased over the years. I have two older 650 models and now this 750. And yes, iMacs don't need any additional software. With Windows, YMMV.
Essential Protection September 15, 2008 J. M. Richardson (Annapolis, MD United States) I learned my lesson the hard way, with disk corruption from line surges. This unit has enough power reserve for personal PC in protecting from line surges with thunderstorms. Good price, clean appearance; highly recommended.
