2 out of 5 stars Disappointed   September 5, 2008
D. Salazar (New York, NY)
After all the good reviews, I figured I had found a perfect replacement for the stock Apple earbuds. I was pretty disappointed though. I can't get these things to stay in my ear. Also the cord constantly makes noise when you move around and it is very distracting. Even if it just rubs up against your clothes, you will hear it. The sound improvement is just "ok" but I can't really judge it since these didn't fit me all that great. Since its an in-canal design, when you're talking on the phone, you hear your own voice differently. That really bothered me and felt unnatural.

Here's an explanation of that:

"These designs actually fit in your ear canal to provide better noise isolation than earbuds; they often produce much better audio quality, as well. However, because they partially seal off your ear canal, like earplugs, a phenomenon called the 'occlusion effect' can make your own voice sound odd--to yourself--when talking."

2 out of 5 stars You'll love them; for a month   September 1, 2008
D. A. Douglas (Miami Beach, FL USA)
These are fantastic headphones when brand new. Sound quality is excellent, the cancel noise pretty well, and it is great that they have a mic attached. But they go to hell in about 1-2 months, and you will end up losing a lot of the rubber earpieces as they would always fall off when taking phones in/out of pockets. I'm on my 2nd pair, and the R channel has already conked out. Buyer beware; it is too bad since they are great headphones, just not good quality.

3 out of 5 stars Nice but hardly worth then money   August 31, 2008
Darren J. Gordon (Costa Mesa, CA United States)
These headphones fit great, look great and have lots of power but the sound is not as full as I had hoped. For me, the highs and lows are very strong leaveing the midrange "empty". Definatly not the full sound as advertised. I have a $30 pair of Pioneer headphones that have a fuller,m more ballanced range of sound to me. One positive thing worth noteing is that they do have power. If you're trying to get more loudness from your source, you'll get it. They also fit nice and tight in the ear, so I will keep them for the gym.

4 out of 5 stars Great so far!   August 31, 2008
Allen Pedroso (Seattle, WA)
I love these headphones, and there are a lot of good things about them, but I don't think they justify the $100 price tag.

Aesthetically, they are top-notch. I have the black and chrome ones, and they look great, and can catch some eyes with those that know quality headphones, but not too flashy to let everyone know you're using an iPod or iPhone.

The fabric-wrapped cord is also very convenient, as they don't get tangled as much as the OEM Apple headphones, even when you stick them in the nice little pouch V-Moda provides. The textured chrome part provides some grip as you take these out of your ears. I could never get a good fit/seal with the apple canalphones, but I find it easy to get a nice seal and comfortable fit with these.

I personally don't really like the feel of in-canal phones, but they are practical for me because I have an hour-long bus ride everyday, and they do a pretty good job isolating the sounds of the bus. However, the noise isolation is limited; loud noises and loud laughing and raised voices can sometimes be heard even with music playing. Other than that, I can't even hear myself typing this review.

Most importantly, the sound quality is pretty good. I'm no audiophile, but I know what I want and don't want to hear in my music. On my iPhone's default EQ settings, the bass is a bit pronounced, and the voices and some instruments may be drowned out, but once you set it on "treble booster" the music sounds nice and balanced. The highs won't be extremely clear, but there is no tinniness and you do notice individual instruments and sounds more than you would with the Apple earbuds or even the Apple canal-phones. It's a pretty noticeable improvement over the provided headphones, and it also has the nice button functionality, and the microphone works well, though I'm not so sure it's yards ahead of the Apple microphones.

Overall, these are good quality headphones, but for 100$ I was expecting a little bit more out of them. I'm more than satisfied with them, but I sometimes find myself thinking I should have saved some money and went with the Skullcandy FMJs.

Also, I've read some reviews where the headphones have given up in less than a month, but I'll update this review if something does, in fact, happen to them. (Crossing my fingers.)

2 out of 5 stars V-Moda Vide Duo earbuds   August 26, 2008
Scott Crandall (Minneapolis, MN USA)
During my research, the reviews I read raved about the deep, rich bass these ear buds provide. I have found the set I have to be lacking in bass completely. I also do not like the fabric cord covering, it tends to tangle around its self and hold the tangle in memory. The product is decent, but not great.
