eeePC 4G 7" screen September 14, 2008 Colloggett (US and UK) This actually belongs to a friend now, but I used it for a couple of weeks. It does everything you want a travel PC to do. It connects to the internet well, Skype works really well with the integral camera, microphone and speakers. I had a bit of an issue when I loaded Windows Proffessional Care that I could not navigate to all parts of the screen regardless of screen resolution setting (not a problem with the 900). The battery life is good compared to the eee 900 I bought for myself. The choice on the eee is a balance between price, battery life and screen size. If battery life is everything then don't hesitate, get the 7" eee. If it isn't then the 900 is probably a better bet with its 9" screen since they are built in the same case, so weight and physical size are identical. The other point worth noting is that sound quality on the 7" is notably better because the speakers are either side of the screen rather than on the underside of the unit. To be honest, browsing the internet and listening to BBC radio online, I couldn't detect a difference in speed between this and the 900 which has more RAM and a different processor. It is worth noting that the keyboard legend is easier to read on the white eee than the black eee.
Great little computer August 14, 2008 cate A "real" computer that's truly portable. Now when I see someone pull out their regular laptop, I think, "Why would you carry around something like that when you could get one of these?" I just throw it in my backpack and off I go. Highly recommended.
Works as advertised August 12, 2008 William D. Morin (Edina, Mn. United States) Have had this PC for several weeks now and am very satisfied with its performance. I chose the Windows XP version and it works well. To save drive space I removed Microsoft Works since I will only be using this machine for E-mail and internet. Did a little research and decided to add the Avast anti-virus package which also seems to be working OK. Added 2GB ram which installed very easily. On a recent trip to Las Vegas the PC easily connected to WiFi with no problems, both at the airport and hotel. Also used it as a MP3 player by downloading my music from home PC to a USB flash drive which fits nicely on the side USB port. The sound was excellent. Unlike some other reports, I did not notice the unit getting excessively hot. I did find the touchpad to be very sensitive so much so that I will switch to a USB mouse for greater control. Overall, very happy with this little PC.
Great little computer August 3, 2008 L. Garcia The main reason I like the laptop is because of how compact it is. It's great for travel and I'm even able to put it inside my purse. Although it heats up very quickly and the battery doesn't last that long, I still like it and consider it a great computer.
I have the 2GB WORKS LIKE A CHARM July 30, 2008 Lady Bug (NY USA) Perfect when travelling light weight and easy to use. Great for retrieving your e mails and not lugging around a full size lap top.
