Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Light rays that are reflected by any surface become polarized and polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. PL (Linear Polarizing) and PL-CIR (Circular Polarizing) filters have the same effect, but it is important that you choose the correct version for your camera. They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc. They also enable colors to become more saturated and appear clearer, with better contrast. This effect is often used to increase the contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds. HOYA's polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Not what I'd hoped for   August 2, 2008
Kevin Flatley (Fairbanks, AK)
I would strongly recommend not purchasing this product. It arrived less than three weeks ago and it is already beginning to fall apart.

There is some flaking of the polarizing screen on the filter. This renders is completely unusuable because it now it adds little shadows that look similiar to dust being on the sensor when I have it on.

The filter was either in a case, or on my lens with a lens cap on during all periods in which I wasn't using it. For it to beginning to break down already is just sad. Don't try and save $30, go for a different filter.

Under normal usage, the circular polarizer rings fall apart easily and now I need to shop for a new one.
