Nothing but an expensive low quality webcam September 20, 2008 Vallon Wolaniuk (Edmonto, Alberta, Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I spent $315 for this only to find out that is promises a number of things it does not deliver. So being a bit of a sucker but still trusting the name Logitec, I bought the $115 worth of "Platinum" extra functionality to get exactly nothing. I spent about 16 hours on two different computers trying to make it work. Using XP SP2 and then SP3. It will record video but that is about all. There is no way to get the remote viewing to work except for short periods of time and only if you reboot and restart the computer the application runs on----even with the "Platinum" nothingness. It advertising that you can aim the camera but that is false. The camera does not move. It is a fake digital zoom and pan trick that is of no real value. I thought for this much money I would get sound too, but there is no sound. They advertise that you can view your saved video remotely if you buy Platinum, but they forgot to say that you have to run home first to upload it before you can view it. It does not upload video automatically on its own. I don't understand how this is useful at all in a security camera This product is a lot of false advertising for a cheap webcam, cheap faulty software and two little network devices. Support? Sure give it a try.....no one will answer the phone! The Panasonic network camera I bought 3 years ago for $350 works far better. In short, false advertizing and cheap junk is all your going to get for a lot of money.
Just don't get it evidently. ?????/ September 13, 2008 O. Mccoy (west virginia) I bought the inside at sam's and the outside on here, but i can't get direct mode, and i can only get a few minutes or seconds of the recorded video, either i don't understand how, or it just doesn't do what i want it to do, if i leave it on record, the next day, it only gives small sections, i need something to record and be able to go back to it all of the hours of the day. Anybody responds, let me know. thanks omccoy
Wow! August 17, 2008 Donald L. Savarese Jr. (Woodlawn, TN USA) One word...Outstanding. The WiLife system misses NOTHING...even a deer in the driveway at 3:45 am gets recorded. The system is easly expandable and I will be adding more cameras soon.
Doesn't work with Vista July 22, 2008 J. Sisemore (Nashville, TN USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
In spite of the fact that none of the documentation (including system requirments) mentioned it, this system will not work if you are running Vista 64-bit. After going through all the trouble to install this (and waiting 2 days for tech support to respond) Logitech has informed me that their product doesn't support 64 bit operating systems. So, you need a new PC to meet the minimum memory requirements to run the camera. BUT, you can't have a new operating system on it. You'd think that if you're going to shell out this much cash that the product would be compatible with current computer standards.
