An Awesome Articulating Arm! September 18, 2005 M. Campbell (Denver, CO) 145 out of 147 found this review helpful
I purchased a 32" flat panel LCD HDTV for our bedroom and wanted to wall mount it to get it off the floor and take advantage of it's thin profile. The problem was finding decent mounting systems at our local "Big Box" electronic stores. Not to mention the high price. After a lengthy Internet search, I settled on this brand and model. We wanted to be able to move our TV to different positions (while still being fixed mounted on the wall) so we could watch it from various points in our bedroom (from the bed, from a sitting area, from the bathroom, etc). Most of the mounts I found on the Internet cost a fortune and did little more than tilt your TV up and down. This Peerless arm does so much more. It swings, swivels, and tilts to virtually any viewing angle you can imagine or need. Plus the mounting plate will fit virtually any LCD or plasma model. I suggest visiting the Peerless web site for specific information regarding compatibility with your TV brand and model. Prices for this item were all over the board during my Internet research. I would discourage you from shopping at the lowest price sources listed at Amazon.com. I went through the long ordering process with Beach Audio.com only to find out (at the last ordering screen) that their shipping and handling costs were about twice the cost of the arm! What a deceiving rip-off. Instead, I purchased the arm through [...]. This web site has a bounty of useful information about TV and monitor mounting options. I highly recommend a look here for information, even if you don't buy from them. I received the mount via UPS in about five days (the $9.99 shipping and handling was much more reasonable than other places). I am a "do it yourselfer" and found the installation to be easy. I think if you are even a bit mechanically inclined and have basic tools you won't have much trouble installing the unit. Find a wall stud, mark the location of the arm on the wall, drill two pilot holes into the stud, screw the arm into the wall stud with two large wood screws and screw the TV into the arm's support plate. Even if you mount the arm a bit crooked, you can still level the TV with one of the arm's adjustment screws. I highly recommend having two or more people available to help hold the TV in place while attaching it to the support arm plate. I am very, very pleased with this articulating arm. It looks great, only sticks out about 3 inches from the wall, it has a neat system for hiding the power cord and cable wires from view, and it can be adjusted effortlessly to an infinite number of viewing angles. I was a bit leery of placing a $1000+ TV investment on a wall mount, but this unit is surprisingly strong. Even though the TV weighs a lot, the arm moves it around with very little effort. If you are looking for a wall mounted articulating arm with lots of flexibility for TV viewing angles, this is a great, ingenious product.
Won't be disappointed with this Peerless Mount August 14, 2006 M. Masangkay 37 out of 37 found this review helpful
I just finished installing this mount for my 32" Sony LCD, and I am very happy with my selection. After looking at dozens of mounts online, this one stood out right away for its aesthetics and clean lines. I saw many articulating arms in the $200+ range that appeared to be over engineered and frankly were not as clean as this peerless mount. It was very easy to install the single stud mounting system, once I was able to find the stud. The screws it comes with are definitely heavy duty, and my only hang up was being able to screw them in all the way. Had to MacGyver it with a drill screw bit and a wrench for leverage, but eventually I got it in. Definitely no worries there in the mount being able to support my 32" Sony. The mount appears to be made very well. Heavy duty and not flimsy. I was also impressed with the fact that there was enough clearance for my 32" tv to rotate 90 degrees either way. A little effort is required to swivel out the TV, but the viewing angle tilt works perfect. As well as the surprising left/right tilt (just in case you mount it slightly crooked - another great surprise). Of course I've never tried a $400 mounting system. But its hard to imagine one that can do more. Except maybe some kind of featherlight swiveling system. Great product. Came with all the necessary hardware to mount my Sony VESA compliant TV. Would highly recommend it.
Great Wall Arm February 26, 2007 Rodney C. Biggs (Wyoming) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
Second arm I've bought. Great function. Smooth against wall. Easy to install. Use Phillips #3 when drilling screws into wall with power drill, otherwise head of screw strips too easily.
Great Value! January 9, 2007 Monica (Ithaca, NY USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
We got this mount for our 37 Sharp Aquos. We wanted something that would allow the TV to move out from the wall so we can watch TV from the kitchen, dining room or living room. It was a little scary mounting the TV to one stud on the wall with only two screws but it does hold the TV securely and we have not had a problem even when the arm is extended out from the wall. For just over $100 it was a great deal. Another great feature is that even if you mount the arm a little out of level, it has an adjustment so that the TV will still be level.
Nice and Hard! October 26, 2007 Early Bird (Brooklyn, NY) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This thing ain't cheap, it's hard heavy metal. Make sure you install it properly though, most people have came home to their brand new tv laying on the floor. Instead of "guesstimating" with a stud finder, just use the stud finder to locate the area of the beam, then use a carpenters blade and cut open a 3inch wide by 7 inch rectangular hole; this way you clearly expose the beam, and mount directly on it to ensure you have a rock solid setup. At the same time you can use the hole to run your cables down to the floor and make an exit hole somewhere unsightly for all your power/video/entertainment connections. With the TV mounted, you can't see the hole in the wall even looking at it from the side. Took me appx. 40 min to do. I will be posting pics soon of my setup.
