I have had this game for a couple years,it's fun to play,I have always been interested in submarines.My only complaint is I am unable to save my game progress,I always have to start from the beginning,once I got to a poiny where there was some type pf fortress with some huge cannon,and could progress no farther.
There is absolutely no support for this game,so if you have problems like unable to save games,you can do what I did,uninstall the game and toss it in the garbage,thats where my Steel Tide ended up after 2 years.
All that effort wasted gets old after a while.

You drive a real submarine, with all functions related to it.
Problem is in the way to guid the submarine and when you shoot the rockets, you should be facing the enemy unit, yet I missed some times when I was shooting... It is not an easy matter.
It is a great game if you like submarines, sea, rockets and many things to be managed same time

I haven't played the game now in months. Had to quit because I sunk all the battlewagons and subs and destroyed all the shore artillery, but can't figure out HOW to get out of the damned lock! But, boys and girls - as a former Destroyer sailor, I have to say I really love this game! The ships are detailed accurately and are a real blast to battle. The only thing that bugged me with this game was that when battling other subs, I'd hit it 4-5 times before it sunk! THEIR torpedoes, on the other hand, were deadly and only took one torpedoe to sink me! I would say this game is definitely worth your money and is hours of fun! The problem I had originally in trying to play the game on Windows XP Home Edition, was in the drivers. I had to download a new driver and BINGO! the game worked fine! So if you're having that problem, go online and see about finding an updated or new driver. My former shipmates would be annoyed that I had so much fun sinking Destroyers... But, they're called "Tin Cans" for a reason... It doesn't take much to sink one... Buy the game and have fun! I highly recommend it!

This is a very entertaining arcade-style submarine game where you are pitted against the dreaded Nazi fl-, er, uh oh that's right, you are fighting the Servarians? Souverians? Whatever, all you need to know is that they blow up real good. In this relatively inexpensive game, your WWII styled sub is equipped with 4 different weapons: torpedoes (fore and aft me maties, Har-Har), deck cannon, dual-barrel deck machine guns and a sniper rifle. You also have a frogman that can swim out from your sub and plant bombs in scripted areas. The "Dreaded Souverians" (the bad guys) have shore-based cannons, fighters, destroyers, and PT-boats to send after you. Most of the game is centered around getting through the "Dreaded Souverian" sea gates that seperate one game level from the next. Steel Tide comes has support for a joytick but control with a keyboard and mouse works infinately better. This game would be, and in some cases is, very easy. Your main limitation is your ammo supply, it runs out very quickly, especially the deck cannon which I used heavily, even to take out enemy fighters. Once you are out of ammo, the game is pretty much over, the torpedoes are plentiful but they sometimes have a mind of their own and they are no match against a concentrated enemy attack. The deck cannon is the ultimate "argument ender" but you become target practice dummy #1 when its out of ammo. All in all, this gam is a fun, albeit mindless, game to play. What would have made it more interesting is if the frogman could actually get out of the water and perform land based missions under your control.
Can't say much, it won't run on XP like they say it will... February 16, 2003

I read the reviews on this game and it sounded like fun. I bought it and tried repeatedly to get it to run on Windows XP HE, but it keeps sticking or locking up... I heard it was supposed to be a great FPS type, but, who knows? If you really like gaming, don't use XP! Half my games that played on Windows 98SE won't play on XP, despite the so-called "compatibility wizard"... I'll keep trying to get this one to work as it has a lot of potential...so I hear... But, I'll stay away from any Infogrames games after this...
