Still great, but BORING August 30, 2007 R. Schneider (Nevada) 18 out of 20 found this review helpful
New maps but not much else new since 2007. They added an unpolished 3D view and MSN Traffic. Traffic is a paid subscription addon that requires an antenna purchase. Still the best trip planner out there.

Upgraded from 2006 to 2008 recently, am using 2008 with a Toshiba Sattelite laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium mounted in my Ford truck. Perspective view feature is very convenient for zooming back and checking outer "perimeter" points around area I'm working in that's necessary for my job. Streets and Trips more accurate than my more expensive Garmin Street Pilot 340C when both are running together on medium or long distance trips and mileage estimates.

I have been purchasing the program for the past three years and have seen continuous improvement in it. I mainly use it for navigation using GPS with my laptop. The 2008 version has added some nice features among the best is the automatic recalculate feature when you vary from the route set up by the progrram. As with any program, there are a few glitches regarding street accessability, names etc. Thses have been referred to Microsoft for correction. All in all, it is a great program.
A few quibbles, but overall it's excellent October 17, 2007 Theodore S. Kerr (Pittsburgh, PA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought Streets and Trips and a GPS unit separately. Street and Trips is very comprehensive with many, many items on it's map. But isn't always intuitive. When traveling to Orlando, Florida recently I could not find Seaworld. As it turns out, I was searching for "Sea World" but the park is actually called "Seaworld". Street and Trips wasn't able to point this out somehow. Also, when you save directions or a map, it saves it as a file. There isn't an easier way as far as I can tell to simply create a Favorites list. Seems like a simple thing, but you can't do it. One other thing: it was not able to find the address to my condo at a local ski resort. The address is available on Google Maps and Rand McNally. I don't know why Street and Trips can't locate it. On the map itself, the roads are there but unmarked. The GPS works seemlessly. It's very easy to use. The only problem I had is identifying the port which the GPS was connected to. Once I got it connected, it worked great. It even tells you your approximate ALTITUDE. Overall, it's a powerful program and if you learn to use it can be a great resource to the traveler.
error message February 22, 2008 Steve (Minnesota) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was able to solve the Error message in Streets & Trips 2008 when you try to use Streets and Trips or MapPoint: "Your registry settings for this application were not copied correctly" I went to the application in C:\program files\microsoft streets and trips & trips\streets.exe. right click properties, click on compatibility and check run as administrator The program now works for me in Vista Premium.
