McAfee has offered an impressive suite of utilities and products. For the past four years I have been using Norton 360. Unfortunately, I still had a virus get past their software and ruin my hard drive. Norton wanted $100 to fix the problem.
So I switched to McAfee. I live in Korea, and today it caught the Conflicker virus attempting to jump onto my computer the instant I plugged in a thumb drive. Now that's quick!
McAfee also works silently in the background to ensure optimal performance. Unlike Norton that would take me hours to set up rules and schedules, McAfee efficiently runs on auto pilot. Norton sounds bells and whistles when it finds an virus, but McAfee effectively erases them without all the excitement and alarm(take for example the way Norton lists every cookie as a potential security threat- that's hardly the case).
Finally, McAfee's managment center is simple and easy to use. If you run a business, McAfee easily integrates all your computers and firewalls. This makes your business networking easy, safe, and effective. The savings of this feature alone is worth $1000s compared to having to have someone do it for you.
Did I mention that it costs about half of what Norton's 360 does. All in all, I believe that McAfee is superior product.

I have five computers and they were all running on different Anti-Virus programs because they all came installed with them from the factory.
Now after dealing with PC-cillin,Norton & McAfee over the past several years,I've eliminated everything but the one without the headaches and that's McAfee.
I started several years ago with McAfee on my main computer and last year I got the 3 user for several of my other computers because I liked the way the well named Total Protection worked and now with the Total Protection 2010 I'm covered on all my computers.
With the PC-cillin & Norton I dealt with viruses that shut my life down,dealing on the phone and on the web with both companies and it was a nightmare.
Using McAfee I have had NO nightmares and the SiteAdvisor gives me the Head's Up if I'm on a possibly bad website and I'm happy to say I've had no problems since switching to McAfee.
From here on out I'm sticking with McAfee

I work in IT as a System Admin so when I saw this product I was a bit skeptical about how well it would really work without being a drain on the system resources.
I already had a windows pc running another antivirus program (AVG Free by grisoft) so I didn't want to remove that and load a new program so instead I built a new virtual machine, cloned it so I had 2 of them identical and installed avg on one and McAfee on the other to compare the resources used by both in their own environments.
Now I do use the free version of AVG and it works very nicely. I have never had a problem with it and the overhead on system resources (memory, cpu, etc) are minimal except when it does a full system scan. I love this product.
So I fired up the McAfee VM and monitored resources and compared that to AVG, McAfee did utilize more CPU and RAM then AVG however it really was reasonable given all the extra's McAfee has built into their "total protection."
The next test I did was I loaded a virus on to the system to see how quick each program would catch it. AVG took a few minutes and McAfee was a little quicker, but the both caught it.
Would I switch to a paid virus program? This one would be a major contender if I did. This has so much built into it that works well to protect PC's that I can honestly say I think it's worth the price (currently $36.99 as of review date). When you realize that protects 3 computers you are literally only paying $12.33 a year to protect each computer and that isn't bad at all for all this does for you.
McAfee has a great product in this version and I do recommend it if you are looking for a "Total Protection" package.

I use to be a dedicated Norton user until I tried McAfee. My first McAfee product was McAfee Internet suite 2008 and I was extremely pleased with it's performance. Since then I have updated McAfee Anit-Virus 2009 but this my first time using a total protection program from McAfee. Since we have 6 different computers in our home ranging from laptops to desktops, I always have to acquire a 3-user program to be able to get protection for all computers in the household at different intervals. With McAfee Total Protection 3 User 2010 you are able to protect up to three computers and what makes it so simple is that you can just go online and install the other two computers without using the software. Your subscription email/account will allow you access to the online services and you just download the program directly from their website.
McAfee Total Protection is offered at a very affordable price compared to all the other major brand companies offering the same protection and user options. You get everything you need from anti-virus protection that keeps itself up-to-date, parental controls, identity theft protection, anti-phishing, spyware detector and many other great features. I actually had a separate parental control program installed in some of the systems but now with McAfee Total Protection I no longer have to use it. One of the features I take full advantage of is the data backup feature. I have my personal system set to backup automatically on certain date and times of the week. McAfee makes this feature easy to use and understand.
This software has not slow down my system and it "quietly" runs in the background without annoying pop windows asking permissions. The only thing I find a tiny bit a nuisance is that a certain pop up window, usually upon start-up of the system, asks me to to verify the subscription. It does not happen all the time but I do see it enough times to mention this. However, this little tiny annoyance will not affect the 5 star rating I give it.
SiteAdvisor allows you to search and interact online safely. With SiteAdvisor when you are online and do a search you will see little green circle with a checkmark in the center by the links to let you know McAfee has classified that link as a trusted site. You will see red circle with an X mark warning you not to open the link because there may be possible security threats. This is a plus when you have little ones surfing the web. Just by a simple visual mark they know what they can and cannot open.
McAfee on routine basis performs a security scan and I have yet to see any possible threats. All I have ever seen listed are one or two tracking cookies. Over two years of using McAfee products and no threads or viruses, that I would say this is a good thing. This tells me that McAfee is doing its job.

Previously, I ran Nortons Internet Security 2005-2008 (for 3 users) and it really bogged down my 3 PC speeds. In 2009 I changed from Nortons to McAfee Internet Security under the advice from our IT Department at work. It ran alot better however in the middle of 2009 after one of McAfee's automatic updates, McAfee started to recognizing one of the standard files as a problem file and was giving me an error, this lasted several weeks until a new update corrected the problem. The McAfee 2009 Version would automatically update files and I couldn't pause it for important work that I would be doing. During the updates it caused my PC to really slow. Otherwise I liked the look and the feel of McAfee Internet Security 2009. In 2010 I upgraded the McAfee to the Total Protection (for 3 users). Had no problem loading on 3 different machines and now it lets me choose when I want to update. The Scans are thorough and "User Friendly". I no longer have the Slowed PC Issues.
