I really enjoy the CD. I heard exerpts from this CD on the radio and that is why I ordered it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Marches   October 2, 2005

This is an excellent CD for those who enjoy march music. One doesn't often find Sousa and opera marches on the same CD, but this has an excellent compilation of all the "great marches." Leonard Bernstein beats the orchestras into a peppy pace. It's a wonderful CD to accompany exercise routines and fast walking. Buy it!

This is a fine album for anyone who enjoys a rousing march. Beginning with the traditional Souza marches, this fine collection evolves into some of the great operatic marches. You will not be disappointed with this CD.

4 out of 5 stars Indeed a Great Album   June 14, 2001

I agree that this is a fine album, containing the best-known marches, from the pure marches by Sousa to the operatic and theatrical marches by Verdi and such. This album is probably the only march CD you'll probably ever need. Otherwize, try the one with Arthur Fiedler. His album is pretty good too.

3 out of 5 stars Not the best but a good one   June 28, 2005

This CD is not the best one but it is an honest one. It contains the best-known marches that have been recorded between 1967 and 1976. The orchestration is good, the choice of marches is good too. I have heard better performances but it does not mean that this CD is not good. It is an honest CD and if it is the first CD of marches that you buy, it is a good choice. There are so many CD of marches that I have only one thing to say : listen different CD and choose the one that will please you. You buy a CD for you; not for the rest of the World.
