Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
For Celtic Thunder, Sharon Browne has teamed up with Grammy-nominated Irish songwriting and composing veteran Phil Coulter to produce a show that includes an eclectic mix of songs ranging from the traditional "Mountains of Mourne" and "Come By the Hills" to international hits such as "Brothers in Arms" and "Desperado," as well as original compositions by Coulter, who has written hits for Elvis Presley ("My Boy") and the Bay City Rollers, and performed with Van Morrison, Tom Jones, and the Rolling Stones. The ensemble numbers in Celtic Thunder reflect the power of the vocalists, who range in age from 14 to 40, and feature songs that celebrate a common Celtic heritage.

Album Description
CD/DVD of the debut concert of Celtic Thunder was filmed on location at the Helix in Dublin, Ireland. The special features five male vocalists (ranging from 14 to 40 - Damian McGinty, Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly, Paul Byrom, and George Donaldson) performing an eclectic mix of songs, ranging from the traditional "Mountains of Mourne" and "Come By the Hills" to international hits such as "Brothers in Arms" and "Desperado," as well as original compositions by Celtic Thunder's legendary musical director and composer Phil Coulter. Celtic Thunder roars with a 28 songlist of memorable songs including 'Raggle Taggle Gypsy','The Voyage', 'Steal Away', 'Ireland's Call', 'I Wanna Know what Love Is', 'Yesterday's Men' (bonus track) and more.

3 out of 5 stars Sentimental sap   September 6, 2008
E. Anderson
Like a lot of people here, I first heard Celtic Thunder via the televised PBS concert. My initial impression was "gee they finally created a male version of Celtic Woman". I recently got a copy of the group's debut album. My impression remains the same. Celtic Thunder is essentially a male version of Celtic Woman. Of course there is the token teen Damian in the group. Without a shadow of a doubt, the men can sing and thankfully avoided singing material that has been done to death by the likes of Celtic Woman, Josh Groban, Il Divo, and Hayley Westenra. Unfortunately the material is less than spectacular especially that rancid cover "Puppy Love" (worst cover song EVER). That was just putrid beyond belief. I hated it when Donny Osmond sang it, I hated it when Damian sang it. I did like the cover of "Desperado" by The Eagles although Celtic Thunder's version tends to tread on the treacly side. My personal favorite song is "The Voyage", a gorgeous ballad. I think George has the most strongest and most compelling voice in the group. His voice is deep and rich. Damian is the weakest singer of the group. I can almost envision Damian doing a Peter Brady later down the road (i.e voice change during puberty). Of course there are a few songs from the tv concert not on the cd and that is because the record company wants people to shell out more money for the dvd. Here's hoping that the group's second album consists of stronger material that won't give me any cavities.

5 out of 5 stars Celtic Thunder Review   September 6, 2008

An excellent piece of music. While the DVD by the same Title includes additional material, this is still a very credible cd. Very enjoyable to listen to.

I saw this show on the PBS station and enjoyed the music. Ordered it and am enjoying the cd as I drive to work. I have now ordered the DVD of the show.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely wonderful   September 3, 2008

Celtic Thunder - I watched in on PBS and fell in love with the music and the performance. Some people say that this is not the original group, I don't know and I don't care. I like it so much that I ordered both, the DVD and CD and play it very often - in my car and at home.

5 out of 5 stars Celtic Thunder is Fantastic   September 3, 2008

These 5 men are awesome. They blend extremely well as a group and are fantastic as solo artists too. I can't wait to see them in concert.
