Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Explicit Version. Cyndi Lauper's 2008 album, Bring Ya To The Brink, is Cyndi's first album of new material in 12 years. More than 25 years after her debut, Cyndi is still exploring new artistic territory. With Bring Ya To The Brink, she found herself inspired by beat drive music that has filled dance clubs throughout Europe and No. America. Sony. 2008.

5 out of 5 stars Just...A SUPERB DANCEFLOOR ALBUM!   August 28, 2008
Kerrfal (Rome Italy)
Nothing to add to the previous 5-stars-reviews!
This album is great! I personally love INTO the NIGHLIFE and RAGING STORM.
It is such a shame that the ambum has not received the appropriate commercialization/marketing. Here in Italy it is not commercialized, had to buy a 28 import version!
Cyndi has nothing less than Madonna and Kylie Minogue.
Well done!
Enrico

1 out of 5 stars Bring ya to the brink of tears   August 26, 2008

when I bought this cd I was shocked to say the least. I was shocked even more when I logged on to see how people had reviewed it and most of all liked it. I have been a cyndi fan from the very first album and though there have been hits and misses in her career I have to say this was one major miss. I had to keep checking the cd case to make sure I was listening to cyndi lauper. I thought I had picked up the "B sides" to Madonna's Music or Cher's living proof cd. Cyndi has always been one to buck the system and be different. I applaud her for that. But this cd sounds like every other dance cd out there. It doesn't even sound like her. Where are the piercing vocals???? That distinctive cyndi croon. I disliked this cd so much this is the first time I have ever entered a review. I applaud cyndi for wanting to try something different at this stage in her career but when you have such a strong commanding voice, why over dub it with techo dance beats?! The wait between cd's and downloads grow longer and longer with the hit artists of the 80's and I sorta feel ripped off. I hope that cyndi eventually returns to what made her so hugely popular.....her voice and rewards those of us who feel she let us down on this one.

5 out of 5 stars LATEST LYNDI LAUPER CD "Bring ya to the brink"   August 8, 2008

Superb! Brilliant CD and especially the second track "Into the Nightlife" which is my favourite by far!! Due to apparent explicit lyrics it seems this CD is not easy to obtain in the UK outside of Amazon so this might be useful info.

A definite must-have for your collection - try to grab a listen just to that track "Into the Nightlife" - the CD is worth purchasing for that alone!!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent album, possibly best ever!   August 6, 2008

A great adventure for Cyndi. Lots of skeptics at first, but everyone I know has TOTALLY been won over from this album. People I know who aren't even casual fans of Cyndi's LOVE this CD. SOme tracks sound s very modern, while others are throw back to the 90's 80's and 70's. Its just a great fun CD. I won't bother going into detail because you are either going to buy it, or you aren't. Do yourself a favor though, and purchase it. But get it on Itunes, so you'll get the 2 extra tracks.
