Essential for the professional military officer October 25, 2000 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book was standard issue from The Academy. The reason for this...it helps add polish to the professional military officer, which can make the difference between promotion and non-promotion for otherwise equally qualified people. And you never know that you won't be invited to the White House in this business. An essential reference for the professional officer.
Very decieving October 14, 2000 Coup99@hotmail.com (CT) 10 out of 25 found this review helpful
When I saw a review of this book combined with the cover which shows the 5 branches of the military (Coast Guard, Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines) combination covers, it appeared to be an excellent book regarding etiquette in the military such as proper saluting, respecting a superior officer etc. But upon recieving it, I found it to be terrible. It basically had nothing to do with the military. It was more about manners that any gentleman should have, millitary or civilian. This included items such as proper manners for a formal dinner party, ie. do not sit down until the host has invited you to, etc. My review is just a forwarning that the title along with the cover can be decieving.
Lots of information- a big help! February 12, 2000 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This book has so much information to assist the new military officer (or the new military officer's spouse). Of course, it's not likely that we'll ever be invited to the White House, but it's good to know what we would need to do, should the occasion arise. Very helpful in planning military weddings.
Required library material for the military family October 15, 1999 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is an absolute must have resource for today's service member. I picked up my copy while in ROTC as a general guide. Since owning it, many friends have not only borrowed it, but have been so impressed that they have also bought a copy for themselves. It has served us all very well. Now, as I plan my wedding, it has become the "go to" source. I think after the wedding, I will need another copy- this one may well be worn out. The book is excellently laid out and is incredibly easy to understand. All the bases are covered in this great book.
This book is a must have for all active duty families. March 12, 1999 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
My husband gave me this book the same night he proposed to me. We had a military wedding so it was extremely helpful in the planning process. I refer to it quite often and recommend it to everyone.
