4 out of 5 stars Great navigator!   October 5, 2008

After having a GPS stolen from my car, I love the portability of this one. I just slip it in my purse and go. The wide screen is great and I have not had any problems with it. I have not tried the blue tooth function yet. My only complaint would be it can sometimes be a little bit slow acquiring satellites. All-in-all I think it is great.

Great little GPS at a fantastic price. Too bad it's discontinued now (probably one reason it was so affordable). This has everything I wanted in a GPS and it all works wonderfully. Bluetooth for my cellphone, MP3 player. And of course maps. Current maps (2009). My only minor complaint is the mounting system. Suction cup doesn't hold long to windshield and the unit is in danger of falling hard so we have to remove it essentially every day, sometimes even every stop. Dashboard mounting system is too permanent (I don't want to ruin my dash) and still ends up using the suction cup system. I'll probably spring for a dashboard portable mount. Still, Garmin GPS systems get a thumbs up from me!

5 out of 5 stars Does what it's supposed to do.   October 3, 2008

I think for what it is, it's pretty good. You put in the address and wait for it to give you directions. It has saved me a couple of times where I was in a place I wasn't familiar with and was going to a place I've never been to before. The FM transmitter is great when you're not in the City. It gets a bit more static-filled when you're in a big city like Los Angeles. The traffic-warnings are a nice welcome, but I know you only get it for free for the first 3 months. I don't think I would really need it since in LA, there's always traffic. But when I used it in Phoenix, it was a nice addition. All and all, a good product and recommended.

I would highly recommend this GPS..it's very user friendly and I really love the bluetooth feature..makes driving and talking on cell phone much easier when you are on a trip.

4 out of 5 stars Garmin 660 Review   October 3, 2008
George Kolakowski (Bellingham, WA USA)
I have to admit, I was prepared for a pretty basic unit to just help me get from point A to point B with no frills. What I received was a GPS that other than a few minor quirks, has been flawless in operation, found stores, gas stations etc. and is intuitive enough that even my wife doesn't mind using it (she who is averse to all things electronic). For the price, this is a very good buy, and well worth taking a hard look at. Quirks; doesn't always find the best route, but it's certainly taken us on some really scenic ones, which were in fact shorter mileage wise, albeit longer in time. Also, you can only have one "via" point, which on a long trip of several thousand miles can be a bit of a pain. I understand that there is a work around for this, which I have yet to master. Also I have yet to find the traffic alert part useful, as it seems to be confined to major rural areas, and doesn't help a wit out in the generally wide open spaces of the Western States. It's a good, sturdy GPS with a large screen, multiple options for viewing that will get you there with minimum fuss, just read the directions and find some web sites with tips and tricks to really get the full potential.
