The best I've heard! June 20, 2008 Richard Kennedy (Cambridge Ohio USA) I just purchased the Sonys and I'm excited to share the experience. First, I've owned several different headphones in past, the last being the Sony MDR-V6. I thought it would be impossible to improve on them...but Sony has done it. Comfort: The 700s are all-day comfortable. The earcups fit AROUND your ears, so there is no annoying pressure there. The headband is nicely padded too, so you simply forget you're wearing anything at all. They are 'hefty' and robustly constructed, yet that weight simply disappears once you put them on. They're attractively designed, too...with a professional style. Sound quality: Like I said earlier, Sony has worked magic here. The resolution and detailing these phones provide will have you hearing things "for the first time"...you'll hear things in music you never knew existed. I am pulling things out of my collection and literally enjoying them for the first time. The bass extension is phenomenal...a concert bass drum-smack or pipe organ will have you giggling like a kid! But they don't stop there...the mids and highs are equally well-produced. The phones are fairly sensitive too...my small headphone amp drives them quite nicely to db levels that doctors would tell you "no-no!!" But they sound so good...you wanna keep cranking the volume! Sony thoughtfully provided a nice long cord, too...it's coiled so it doesn't get in the way. Oh, my...the kickdrum in Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks" just about blew my eyeglasses off! Yeehaw!! Buy them...you will not regret it!
over 3 years of use! June 3, 2008 O. Rodrigo Blanco I bought these headphones 3 years ago!! I used them quite a lot, and as all the other reviews you can find here, mine broke, yes they did, but looking in the market for other options in the same price range, all I found was that the design of the Sony V700, the sound quality, the durability and the price make them the best option. I just bought my second pair of these and I know the will do the job just good.
Simply Amazing May 14, 2008 Robert Joseph Donehew (Bay Area California) I'm a hip hop producer and i ordered these mdr's because i used them once before and i fell absolutely in love with them. And i could never find another pair of headphones there after that really satisfied my needs like the MDR-V700's did. When you put these on it... the only way to describe it is "This Is what music was meant to sound like and what the creator originally intended the listener to perceive" . They can handle low end very very well and the mids and high sparkle like your actually there. sony never fails when it comes to quality and i would give these 6 stars if i could you wont regret your purchase! : D -Sincerely Robert
Excellent Product April 28, 2008 XtreamPCTek (Buffalo, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my Third pair of these headphone, The first two were damaged because of my own fault and i keep buying them cause there some of the best headphones you can find for the price. I Use them for EVERYTHING, Movies, Music, and Games. The sound quality is AMAZING, It feels like the sound is live. I found that setting the EQ to Jazz on certain devices that offer it sound the best on these headphones.
Seems Improved over older MDR-V700DJ April 21, 2008 Nicholas Leader 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had severe misgivings about purchasing Sony earphones again after my original (just under 3years old) MDR-V700J stopped producing audio in one ear. After taking the headphones apart, and doing some testing, I discovered the issue was with the audio cable in the headband portion. So after weighing my options, I went with this model again, they seemed to have addressed the issue of size of the ear cup, as this newer version doesn't compress my ears. The coil on the cord is a little tighter; hopefully this will eliminate some tangle. Finally what I'm going to do on my end to hopefully prolong the life of my headphone, I won't fold up the headphones every time after use and put them back in the included bag. I'm guessing the audio cable inside the headband portion frayed from wear over time. As far as audio quality and aesthetics, these head phones are awesome. I use them mostly for music and some FPS gaming. The price / performance ratio was enough to get me to try these again, and hopefully Sony has addressed the durability issue.
