Gave up on wireless August 2, 2008 Timothy Caywood (Central CA) To most of my friends I'm a geek, but after several attempts over a number of years to set up a secure and reliable wireless system, I gave up. The Panasonic system is wonderful! Just plug it in. I have a 6 meg Comcast cable hookup and can get the same download speed from any socket in my house. No security problems to worry about. Just a short ethernet cable to my laptop and I can go anywhere in the house by just plugging in. Very highly recommended.
Perfect August 1, 2008 D. Schwarz (South Park, CO) Does exactly what it's supposed to do, right out of the box -- how often can you say that? Set up is simple and quick -- had the thing running in minutes. Even measures its own connection speed. Recommend you download pdf directions from Panny site beforehand, so that you are aware of how the device is supposed to be used (may not work in all circumstances). Nice feature is that ~ 3' power cord plugs into wall outlet, rather than the device itself.
Easy Home Network Connection July 26, 2008 D. E. Price (New Jersey) I needed to connect a home computer that is located in a space "behind" a refrigerator--wireless (b/g, n) just won't go there through all that metal. These modules work well, with no real setup required. Connection speed is adequate for almost all uses except some high-bandwidth video. And the cost was well below alternatives. The connection does drop out occasionally, most likely due to interference from something else in the wiring, but my previous attempt with another manufacturer's modules wouldn't connect at all. Four stars only because of the occasional drop-outs.
Works great with a tweak or 2. July 21, 2008 Corey T. Williams (Great Mills, MD United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product on the reconmidation of other shoppers. The other reviews were on point with ease of use and speed. I love the fact that it uses a cord and not just the unit plugs into the wall and that you can test the speed on the unit itself. I just wanted to let other shoppers know that you can't half step on the directions or it will seem not to work or work poorly. When I first plugged it up I was getting very bad speeds or not connecting at all. So I had to make sure the stuff plugged into the same wall outlet with it were on a filtered surge protector. The problem was that I had all that stuff on a power strip. Once I switched it out all worked great. I get 2 bars for speed ( 10 - 30 mbps). I wanted to use it to hook my new Directv HD DVR to the internet. Now I don't know if it was the DVR or the power network but it didn't just plug in and work. So I had to set a static IP with the other settings to make it work ok. So if this is what you are getting it for get these settings off your pc (look at portforward.com to see how).
THIS IS GREAT July 5, 2008 R. Lee Fitch (Efland NC) It works perfectly. Thank you for shipping fast too. I love it. I now need more.
