Well Satisfied w/the Canon SD850 August 26, 2008 S. Englert (Manchester, NH) I've always wanted a small but good point and shoot camera but until this one none of them have ever impressed me. When I looked on line at the Canon's, this particular unit attracted me so I asked my son what he thought of it. He said he had the SD750 and he took it on his trip to cruise in Europe last year and he was very impressed with it...and his pictures proved it. I've really been impressed with its features including the fact that the zoom is one of the best in any point and shoot and it also does macro shots which really impressed me. Further, one can take a series of shots in a panning sequence and the software that comes with it will allow the photographer to "stitch" the photos together to make a panoramic photograph. I've taken the shots but I haven't used the software yet but this feature is pretty extraordinary for a point and shoot. Further, it takes a standard size memory card (for this type of camera) but it can also take the newer SD cards (which I learned after I purchased it). The only thing I thought was poor about it was the memory card that came with the camera. It's a 32M card and in the true quality mode of picture taking only allows for about 14 shots (more in a less quality picture taking selection). I went out and bought two 2G cards that allows for over 400 pictures in quality mode. And one more thing I've been impressed with and that's the battery. At first I wasn't sure about being happy that the battery is a "special" battery that needs to be recharged rather than the over the counter (replaceable) type that many point and shoots use today. However, I charged the battery when I got it and I'm still using the camera after taking about 100 pictures and many of them using the flash and I still haven't recharged the battery. It's a great little camera with lots of good features found on more expensive cameras. I found it to be an excellent purchase well worth the money spent. camera August 24, 2008 C. Lercara (FLUSHING, NEW YORK USA) nice size and easy to use no noticable inconvience great zoom power lots of ways to customize your shot (colors/flash/etc)
Canon SD850 August 24, 2008 bvista23 This is 4th Canon camera I've owned and the best.A great camera for the serious non-professional.Only small gripe is the awkward on/off button. Its almost a can't mess-up thing on automatic and the telephoto with anti-shake is super.
Fantastic camera! Exellent photos, video, and battery! August 22, 2008 P. Griffin (Southwest USA) This camera takes excellent photos & videos, and the battery is long-lasting. I just took it on a rim-to-rim hike of the Grand Canyon with 3 days of continuous shooting and I never had to change the battery (I had a spare with me I didn't use). I accidentally dropped this little guy on the ground (rocks) and ended up with only a few superficial scratches (the camera, that is). What a little tank this camera is! I'm very happy with my purchase.
Okay, so so August 20, 2008 mark reinhoudt (in between wellington (nzl), san francisco (usa) and cape town (sa)) I have the camera for a few days and my experience is sos so okay. It is not spectacular nor great but bad either. The camera has a good interface on screen and the flash does its job once you have figured out working around some standard settings. The view finder is useless as it is the size of a pin head. Canon could have got rid of that feature. Thankfully the display works well, also outside in the sun. Picture quality is as you would expect of Canon. I wonder when Canon improves on the battery indication level as now it only shows up when it is almost time to recharge/replace the battery. When you are out on a trip that can be a bit of a problem. The alternative is to charge it every time you are coming home afte rusing the camera but that again is not good for the lifespan of the battery. I am keeping the camera as a second one next to my bigger and much better Panasonic8 that I do not want to drag around every night and day whilst this one fits in your pocket.
